This is a hostel for people who feel comfortable in "alternative" environments. I do, and I certainly enjoyed it. That having been said, it is not for everybody. I would heartily endorse the place for people who are comfortable around younger people, and who enjoy being open to talking to and interacting with new folks. The food is good and affordable and there is an ATM on the premises. The internet works well too.
The cleaning staff does a superb job with the bathrooms and toils. The Pub's noise is under control, and the place is a great value. The old times are not a problem, they add a bit of charm to the place, as long as you appreciate quirky people. The neighborhood is multicultural and it is easy to find good food and groceries nearby. There is a Sainsbury's local within easy walking distance. Bus and tube connections are also within an easy walking distance. I highly recommend this hostel.
The hostel is located very close to Bus 94's Wellesley and Parliament's stop. It is very close to several South Asian restaurants, four convenience stores (including one specializing in South Asian foods), and a super market (Basic Foods). The hostel is in an old, charming Victorian house, and the staff is friendly and helpful. The kitchen is well equipped and can be used for all meals. It is an excellent value for the money and highly recommended.
The hotel is a great value for the money and is clean. The is a laundry room and a microwave, and these are a great money saver, in terms of needing to fly with less luggage and not have to eat out at restaurants. There are groceries within walking distance or a short bus ride. Internet access was difficult, but there are ways around the problem, including purchasing local wi-fi access from the Gaslamp Merchants Association. I certainly would stay at the Pacifica again and recommend it.
A concern we had was the lack of a fire escape aside from the stairs. The room needed a shutter for windy nights. Other than that, our experience was excellent and we plan to use this hostel again.

Friendly and helpful staff. A great "alternative" sort of accommodation.
Very professional and helpful staff. The presence of a kitchen and included light breakfast was a plys.
The property is appropriate for a single traveller; the double room requested simply was not so. There was also too much noise and too much light in the room. There is a renovated part above and customers should request renovated rooms. We were not in such a room and the results were not good in terms of rest.
