Great common room area to meet people and the staff were all really really nice. Rooms were a tad bit stuffy though, had a particular odour but that could just be the other guests' wet clothes hanging around. Location was within 10 mins walk from the station and lots of great food around the area !
I had such a comfortable stay at Corner 226, it felt like home. The staff, (i think Louise) was super amazing, friendly and more than willing to give recommendations and tips. The whole hostel is really cosy and the bottom bunks come with privacy curtains. Most things are provided in the washrooms like soap shampoo cotton buds etc, the only thing really needed is to bring your own toothbrush and a towel. They also provide maps and bicycle rentals, location was walking distance to downtown.
The location is great, place is clean and staff are really friendly. Wifi works well and the free breakfast is a plus, although Penang itself has many great food, I would prefer to eat outside ! The rooms are all air conditioned, have clean sheets that are really comfortable, and i love the interior/decoration of the whole guesthouse, it's modern and a good place to relax and put on a movie or to get some work done, but not much of a vibe with other travellers since there are many many couples.
Really clean hostel and located just a stone throw away from the station. Easily walkable to Ueno and the common area is really nice to relax and meet people
Possibly one of the best hostels I've stayed in EVER. There's nothing this hostel doesn't have, and i love the little humorous posters and signs they have up everywhere. It's located just a 5 min walk to the nearest train station. The staff are really friendly and helpful. Dorms, kitchen, toilets and common areas are really clean and the beds all come with a personal locker, light and power plug.I arrived at 6am and I was allowed to leave my bag and use all the facilities which was really nice!
Comfortable and clean rooms with a good bed and pillow. Room was always cold and nice. Lockers are provided and there's a security guard at night when coming back after a night out. I liked the little pantry with free coffee and water, and the staff helped me with arranging for tours and ferries without any hassle. Common area could be more lively though, didn't have such a good vibe since the bars around had more going on
This was my first stop and hostel in India so I didn't know the market rate, though it was a cool hostel with great atmosphere, good to meet people and socialize. I liked the big lockers under the bed in the dorms and the artistic paintings everywhere. The hearty free breakfast was a bonus. There were many activities and tour going on everyday but some of them are ridiculously overpriced. The prices of the tours and rooms were even going up during my stay there... not too impressed with that.
Dorm was clean and well ventilated but I found a huge bed bug in my bed and was paranoid to sleep there every night thereafter. Rooftop was a great place to meet wonderful people (very good vibes)& they served good food at reasonable prices too. Most of the staff were quiet and didn't give too much information about Kathmandu, they just point you to the tour agency which isn't the best value. Also didn't get my deposit back because I forgot, but shame that they just kept quiet and didn't offer.
Friendly staff, i loved the nice traditional java garden though the rooms were pretty basic. Had a good stay and would come back again in the future
Great place to meet people, though they double booked me in the female dorm so i had to stay in the male dorm. No biggie, except there's no mosquito nets in the male dorm. Apart from that place was great, had a kitchen and working wifi, nice chillout areas and decent beds
Hostel and rooms were really clean and comfortable, breakfast was great dinner was so-so... Common room was great and had a pool table and tv area but for some reason maybe it was too big so the people all sat in different groups.. felt very separated. Didn't like that the private rooms were not in the same building, to go get breakfast or dinner was always a cold and painful walk during this time of the year. Overall still a good stay, value for money.

Clean hostel and really comfortable beds even though the room was a bit small. Staff was friendly and always asked if we wanted tea or coffee, they also let us leave our bags in the hostel while we took a trip to the village nearby which was really kind of them! One thing I didn't like was how long the laundry took, had to keep asking if it was ready.
Apartment was in a good location, not too far from the old town but a little bit difficult to locate when you first arrive as it's hidden in a small street. Facilities were great, with fast working wifi, TV, computer and a fully equipped kitchen. Worth the money, but didn't like that there were flies everywhere outside the apartment that keeps flying in, we had to kill more than 10 flies every night so it didn't look very clean with smashed bugs all over the place.
The apartment was really great, had a comfortable stay and decided to extend 2 more nights! Fully equipped kitchen, private toilets and a balcony for this price was really worth the value. Vlado was also very friendly and was efficient in replying emails about checking in etc. Supermarket was also nearby and it was also located conveninently near the beaches. Definitely recommended!
Had a super comfortable stay at Haris' even if the slopes up to the hostel was a killer. Beds are so soft and comfortable, common area is great to meet people, and breakfast with bosnian coffee is a plus! Haris was an amazing host and it was a lot of fun staying at his hostel :)
Ridiculous opening hours for the kitchen. It closes at 8pm so what happens to people who want to eat later than that or have something in the fridge they want to get? Staff aren't very helpful or friendly. But i liked the lockers in the room and toilets that are really clean. Location is alright because it's near the s-bahn and u-bahn but far away from city center. Overall an alright stay, but I wouldn't go back again.
The location was great, and the breakfast was decent. But the 18 bed dorm rooms were hot & stuffy, hardly had any windows, I can imagine the rooms in the basement to be a nightmare. The common area is too overcrowded with people and wifi only works in the common area/lobby and not in the rooms. Showers were either too cold or too hot, there isn't any in between and needed some days to get used to. Overall it was a decent stay, but it could have been better for the amount we're paying a night.
The location was really out of the way, not anywhere near town and i had a hard time finding it after walking really long. I didn't stay there in the end after looking at the room, and the staff was nice enough to let us leave and not pay, though the deposit by hostelworld cannot be refunded. The room wasn't bad, it was just kind of filled with all sorts of bugs and spiders. But it was big and spacious, had a small fan and a nice porch, as well as a pool. It was just too out of the way and dirty for me.
This is a great place to meet other travellers and just chill out. Rooms are clean and toilet facilities are good for the price paid. They've got tour packages that make things easier for you too. A lIttle bird is really value for money,! Would definitely go back if i ever visit ChiangMai again.
There wasn't a proper mirror in the room and it got a little too noisy in the morning and i couldn't sleep very well the whole night. But the staff was great and i found a better place to stay with my other friend.
