luggage room was just an open conference room next to the reception. It is too easy to sneak past the reception to get in. I had to take my laptop along to the hiking trip..

Seriously the prettiest hostel I've seen in Japan. Nice massage chair in the common room was just what I had needed. Perfect place, futon in my single room was very comfortable. the only bitter I'm pill: 1.70m, and I fitted just perfectly, but if you're a "tall" traveller and 1.80m or above, email them in advance and inquire whether the single rooms are large enough for you

very nice place, check out the staff's recommendations on sights and events on the wall. had a surprisingly spacious single room. The only thing that annoyed me was that the non-japanese guests seemed to be oblivious or ignorant of the fact that Japanese walls are very thin. not the hotsel's fault, but they should stress this more when guests check in.

Great place and in terms of house rules and facilities very Japanese. it makes for a great cultural experience to stay there. You just have to move super slow and carefully at night yo avoid noise and also the common room was quite cold.

before coming to retra's I was skeptical about the 100% review; now I feel skepticism about anyone rating less than 100% :). it's simply the cleanest, friendliest and most welcoming place imaginable. you will get a free bicycle and the absolute best directions to go anywhere from the kick-ass manager Patricia, who's an absolute specialist for all things to do/eat/see in and around Yogya.
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. Greetings from Patricia, the kick-ass manager :D

There was no warm water in our ensuite shower, but in the common shower, which was just next door and always free. Putu and his staff is extremely helpful and genuinely friendly and our free scooters were in a perfect condition. The neighborhood is off the tourist beat, which is great for the first few days in Bali.
Thank you for your comment , we have fix the problem. Just runing out gas on water heater and thats all . And now all good ;-)

Habitat has incredibly friendly staff, but the short-stay backpacker in Australia should know that its free parking offer means a big likelihood that 40-50% of the guests are young work&travel folks from mostly Europe, who hang around most day, party all evenings throughout the week and don't really leave you any opportunity to find a quiet spot to plan your travel or just read a book. There's a TV room with books. but it's constantly occupied. It would be great if you got a reading room, HQ!
Thanks so much for taking the time to leave a review, we value all our feedback. It's great to hear that our staff made a positive impact on your stay, all our staff here at Habitat strive incredibly hard to make every guests stay a memorable one! I'll pass on your suggestion for a quiet room/reading room, it's a great idea & we appreciate that everyone has different needs when travelling. We hope to see you again here at Habitat HQ!

breakfast starting at 7:30am means that it can get noisy as early as that, but other than that it was a lovely stay!

Nice and helpful staff and very good shower facilities. The rooms are very small though, but with friendly roommates , that shouldn't be a problem and wasn't in our case.

A lovely little hostel run by a lovely japanese family. Mo, the owner, is the funniest and most helpful person who always has some good extra advice to make your Kyoto experience even more enjoyable. The bikes, that you can hire for 500Yen a day, are in a perfect condition and the rooms have more space than refular hostels in Japan.

The nicest and most helpful staff you will ever meet and a location, that clearly can not be topped. Also a great place to meet other travellers und since the maxwell food center is just 20 m down the road, a truly inexpensive selection of singapore's best foods is always a meal option :) Will stay there again next time, though i hope that the bathrooms will be fixed till then.
