Awesome place! The staff was very friendly and helped us a lot to explore the city! Thank you so much!
The place wasn't very clean. It is next to a disco and unless you're drinking and having a party the whole night yourself it's very load and annoying. The hostel has a kirchen, but the kitchen don't have dishes. You have to borrow the dishes from the reception and give them a 10 AUD depostit. Really strange, I haven't experienced that in a hostel.
It's not very clean. It very close to the airport and a taxi is cheaper than the airport shuttle. A bar is part of the hostel and it's very load!!
We spend there two nights. The first night it seems more like a party hostel, but the seconds night was very quite. But there is an Irish pub next to the hostel so that it's never really quite when there is a concert. Same for the cleanliness of the kitchen and bath rooms. The morning after the party it was a little bit dirty, but it was ok after the next cleaning. The photos of the hostel home page show a pool which doesn't exist anymore (or wasn't available during our stay).
The hostel was not very clean und smelled bad in some areas. The pool was a joke! It had a smell of mould that I couldn't imagine how anyone could dip a toe in it. The free vegetable soup every day is a nice gesture.
Nice hostel in the centre of Rotorua. The hostel has a cozy living room. The eating area is rather functional but there is a nice outdoor area with tables we used when the sun was shining.
The hostel is a bit out of town, but just a 5-10 minutes walk. It could be a bit cleaner, but it wasn't fair to call it unclean. There is a little goat living there as the owner's pet which is very cute!
After spending a week in another hostel in Auckland (Oaklands Lodge) the City Garden Lodge was a bit disappointing. It was a bit unclean and there were so many people using the kitchen and toilets, because in addition to the guests sleeping in the hostel they were official guest sleeping in tents, in caravans provided by the hostel or in their own camper vans. To say something good: The hostel has a nice living room with very cozy sofas. In the end it is ok to stay here, but not much more.
The hostel is very cosy. The people we met there were really nice and friendly. It's not a party hostel which was exactly what we were looking for.
Staff was so helpful. Thanks a lot again!!
