Hostel Ruthensteiner Vienna

Vienna, Austria

Friendliest staff of any hostel anywhere. If we were looking to meet people this would have been the most fun place ever. We were traveling as a family so we did not mix in much. The rooms and bathrooms are very very small, but this allows it to be affordable. Easy to find from train station and easy to get into the city. Also easy to take a bus from train station to the airport.

Very nice room with such comfortable beds and towels and bathroom (this was our only hotel night on our trip). Nice and quiet, friendly staff, breakfast included which was generous if not amazing. Good location for walking into town to do the sites.

Hostel Merlin

Cesky Krumlov, Czech Republic

No towels were provided-I probably would have known this if I had looked beforehand. It just was the first place we went to that didn't have them. But the staff kindly found us some to use. Sweet little place. Very well located. We left our bags for the day and when we came back to get them we were locked out. Thankfully another resident who was leaving allowed us to come back and get them and we didnt miss our van ride.

Little Quarter Hostel

Prague, Czech Republic

Very nice hostel. Large rooms and nice bathrooms. Very clean. Nice decor. Staff was very friendly and helpful. We loved the location. Great area to be in, lots of restaurants and not as many crowds as over the bridge. Also you can walk up the hill to get the great view of the city,

Eastener Hostel

Berlin, Germany

Very small twin room but private bathroom which was nice-but also very small. Very friendly woman greeted us and showed us where everything was. Location is good for going out to dinner at night and for walking to the area of all the attractions. Very quiet. I couldn't believe how quiet all night. Worked fine for our touristing needs. Awesome coffee shop nearby that was recommended.

Lyon, France

Hotelo is a no-frills hotel that gives you all the things you really need. Comfortable bed, nice towels, clean towels each day, locked front door. Location is right by train station and we saw it out the window as we took the T1 from the other train station. Then we just had to turn ourselves around to figure out how to get back to what we saw. Staff takes your key during the day, not sure why, but no problems with that. Area feels a little unsafe at night but everything was fine.

Annecy Hostel

Annecy, France

Very clean, tight quarters, affordable. shower and sink in bedroom with toilet down the hall. very economical use of space. automated lights, otherwise kind of dark and cell like, but nice window opening out onto the street. traffic noise. works fine. easy walk to old town and lake. kitchen to share, assorted outdoor areas with chairs and tables for gathering.

Chalet Martin

Gryon, Switzerland

La Magnolia B&B

Verona, Italy

This felt luxurious after other hostels. It is true that that the train is right in the backyard. So you cannot sleep with the window open but there is good AC. Bathroom and towels very luxurious. Bedroom very comfortable. Breakfast was great with a coffee machine to get any kind you want. Roberto was so welcoming and helpful. Easy walk to the city. very spacious.

Ca' de le Fiabe

Venice, Italy

We walked ALL over Venice and it turned out that our favorite area was where this hostel was. It IS hard to find, but then everything is hard to find in Venice. Allow lots of time to find it from the train station and try to be on time for your estimated arrival.Such a wonderful bustling sound out the living room window. Our room had a window looking right onto someone else's balcony but some solid grating kept their cat out. Beds were somewhat lumpy and towels scratchy, but still we loved it!

Hostel Veronique

Florence, Italy

We loved it here. Fabulous location. Hard to find at first, just a small plaque outside the door and a doorbell that says rooms for rent, but very friendly staff waiting to greet us. Big towels waiting on our beds, very nice bathrooms. We were on the second floor-they had rooms on another floor also but we didnt see them. The woman there gave us a map and told us all the good places to see. The entryway is funny and dark with a tiny elevator, but very welcoming inside. Big thumbs up.
