This is a really good hostel with a great atmosphere. The staff are super-friendly and helpful. Breakfast is good and it's generally a really comfortable and welcoming place to spend time. My only criticism would be the fact that there are approximately 25 beds in the hostel I would think and only one bathroom with no separate toilet. It meant getting a turn in the bathroom could be a bit difficult.

Hostal Alcatraz

This is a nice hostel with very friendly staff. I know that San Miguel is an expensive town, but the price seemed a little steep for the level of facilities and the lack of breakfast. For example there were a lot of beds and only one or two bathrooms, so you had to wait around a lot. It's in a great location though.

Paulina Youth Hostel

Although the hostel advertises itself as a fun hostel, it had absolutely no atmosphere. We hoped to meet people and experience the day of the dead celebrations, but the hostel was mostly full of rock climbing groups and older people, and nobody was socialising. There was a roof and garden with so much potential but all were bare with no lights or music or anything. Also our 9 person dorm had only one electrical socket by the door. On the upside it was clean and the breakfast was fantastic!

Good hostel- a typical HI. Nice pool and communal areas. 10 minutes from centre of town and beach. Very secure with good lockers and other facilities.

Hostel Tequila Backpackers

This is my second stay at this hostel- this time with friends. As ever the staff are excellent and bend over backwards to make you happy. The dorms are clean and secure with good lockers etc, you get a welcome beer on arrival and they have a decent pool in the back. Breakfast was self service from the kitchen, and they went out and bought us the ingredients we wanted to make our breakfast. The only negative was the fact that the bar was closed at the moment. Hopefully it will re-open soon

Hostal La Buena Vida

In a great location, right in the heart of La Condesa near to the restaurants and bars and also close to Patriotismo metro. Spotlessly clean with a relatively warm welcome. The breakfast is basic. They have a cool terrace where you can sunbathe and good internet access/wifi options. The only slightly weird thing is the fact that the bathrooms are basically part of the dorm room - difficult to explain, but there really isn't much privacy for showering/using the toilet.
