Location and value for money are the biggest advantages here. It's just a short walk from Hauptbahnhof and yet in a surprisingly quiet neighbourhood. Breakfast is alright and the common area is pretty big and clean but lacks atmosphere. Great place if you are looking to rest with a quiet night's sleep. Not so great if you are counting on social events organized by typical youth hostels. Facilities in rooms are very basic. WiFi only works in the common area.

Fairly good experience, nice location, good value for money and an amazing bar/restaurant downstairs. Nice place to chill out with live music!

Hacienda Guesthouse

St. Julians, Malta

Nice place and helpful staff with a nice rooftop bar if you are looking for a rather budget private room in the heart of St. Julian's party district. Beware that its on the street lined with night clubs so it could get really noisy at night if you'd like the keep the windows open at night. Using WiFi was a pain and hardly works anywhere in the guesthouse.

Yangshuo 11 Hostel

To new travelers: Directions provided to the hostel are useless! Great staff but significantly lacks offered services. Rock hard mattresses, no blankets, poor air conditioning and absolutely no noise isolation from the street outside throughout the day and night. Considering that West Street is like a mini version of Las Vegas, the hostels next door like Monkey Jane and Showbiz Inn provide better value for money for the same price with great roof top bars and amazing social atmosphere.

They have the most cheerful staff I have seen in a hostel in China. Highly recommended

Grampa's Hostel

Its definitely the cleanest, friendliest and the most comfortable hostel in town. Great value for money since it offers one of the cheapest rates in town while maintaining a high standard. Almost all the perks are for free (wifi, breakfast, sheets, kitchen, laundry, lockers, playstation). Its fairly close to the center on a quiet street (coolest spots in town are just 10 minutes away). Bit far from the train station but I don't recommend living near the station since its pretty shabby anyway.
