Tour Itinerary
DAY 1: Early start. We head north on the Boomerang tour. Incredible changing landscape, kangaroos, emus, eagles, road trains, genuine bush characters and enough stops to keep you happy along the way. Relax in air-conditioned comfort and settle in as we cruise the highway to Coober Pedy, arriving around 6pm. At the end of the day we sleep underground.
DAY 2: Say good-bye to the Boomerang tour group and spend the morning exploring Coober Pedy. Opal capital of the world and a landscape a lot like Mars. Try "noodling" for opals or visit an opal shop. Meet the Desert Patrol tour back at the accommodation for lunch at 1pm. We take a tour of the opal mine later in the afternoon and view the outback stars by night.
DAY 3: We head towards Uluru in good shape to set up camp and go out for our first Uluru sunset. Nothing really prepares you for The Rock - it's awesome.
DAY 4: Up with the birds for breakfast, today its at Kata Tjuta (The Olgas). We hike the majestic Valley of the Winds with its incredibly ancient rock formations before returning to camp to spend the rest of day soaking up the magic of Uluru. There is enough time to do everything including climbing Uluru.
DAY 5: After another fantastic breakfast we enjoy a walk around the base of Uluru and spend time learning about the Aboriginal people at the Cultural Centre. Lunch is at the campground, with a departure for the bar and swimming pool at Kings Creek Station 'just down the road'.
DAY 6: Last day. We walk Watarrka (Kings Canyon) to experience the fantastic views of the Gorge, huge sandstone walls and the immense canyon floor. The cool water hole in the Garden of Eden is just so special. After lunch we cruise into Alice Springs.
Please note that this tour combines the first day of our Boomerang tour with the last 41/2 days of our Desert Patrol tour and includes a full day and two nights in Coober Pedy.
