Tour Itinerary

Day 1

Departing from Sydney on Friday afternoon we stop for coffee at the beautiful Hawkesbury River and have a chance to get to know the other people on the tour. From there we head to Port Stephens aiming to arrive about 6.30p.m giving us enough timec to cook up a barbeque and maybe go for a swim at our site 400 meters only back from One Mile Beach. Make sure your shoes are inside your tent though or the resident possums will steal them!

Day 2

An action packed day in the Port Stephens. We explore the whole of Stockton beach: Tin City, the permanent community that lives on the beach, The Sigma shipwreck and drive up some of the massive sand dunes on the beach then slide down them on sand boards. After lunch we go for a cruise with guaranteed dolphin sightings, then do the steep walk to spectacular Tomaree lookout and maybe cool off with a swim at Zenith Beach afterwards

Day 3

We head down to Newcastle, the second oldest city in Australia and voted one of the top 10 cities in the world by Lonely Planet in 2010. There you can have a leisurely brunch on the terrace of one of the historic buildings and see Fort Scratchley, one of the few places in Australia to be attacked in WW2 and Nobbies Beach which hit the headlines 2007 when am 80,000 ton ship ran aground here.

Then we head down to Watagan Mountain to do some 4 wheel driving out to some of the viewpoints overlooking the Hunter Valley. We then go to a couple of the smaller and more picturesque wineries in the valley to learn about wine and try some of the produce. Finally we stop at the historic Woolombi tavern for a farewell drink before we return to Sydney after a memorable weekend and possibly having made some new friends.
