Tour Itinerary

We start from your hotel, where you will encounter our multi-lingual guide. Then the program consist the following:

- Presentation of the neighborhood, where your hotel is located, and some points of interest, which are close by, e.g. restaurants, nightclubs, beaches, super markets, post office etc.

"Cidade Alta" Tour:

- Small tour through areas like Rio Vermelho, Barra, Vitória and length the coastal roads of Salvadors main city area. Every area has its specialties: museums, fortresses, bars, beaches, theatres, restaurants and a history, which will be explained to you.

- Walking tour through the historical center "Pelourinho". Strolling the copplestone streets of this preserved colonial style area, which is also declared as a cultural heritage area by the UNESCO. We will visit the golden Church of Saint Francisco, pass various museums and historical buildings, until we reach the "Largo do Pelourinho", a most famous picture postcard of Salvador, where slaves have been punished in public in ancient times. We'll enter a unic church builded for slaves by slaves (Igreja da Nossa Senhora do Rosário dos Pretos). The area history will be explained and shown to you, as well as you will be informed where and when you can enjoy music presentation, shows and the best restaurants.

- The tour continues until we reach the Palácio Rio Branco, build in the square Tome de Sousa administrational building. From there you can admire the panoramic view of the Cidade baixa (lower city) and the Baia de Todos Santos (All Saints Bay) , which spreads out behind it.

- We descent with the Elevador Lacerda and enter the local hand craft market called Mercado Modelo, old slave trade market. You'll have time to buy souvenirs, local handcrafts and enjoy capoeira presentations.

"Cidade Baixa" Tour:

- We'll pass in Pelourinho and Mercado Modelo too, as description above.

- Transfer to the Ribeira neighborhood, where we'll have the possibility to enjoy a lunch, or just walk along the beautiful beach. Ribeira has its reputation as a home of many skillful capoeristas, and on the weekends local sunbathers usually crowd it.

- Final destination is the famous church of Bomfim that holds a history of syncretism a mix with Catholicism and the traditions of candomblé. The annual tradition "Lavagem do Bomfim" takes place there every January and gathers huge masses of people, celebrating.

- Return to your hotel.
