Tour Itinerary

The Grand Circuit of Angkor follows a route laid out by the French at the beginning of the 20th century; taking in some of the sights around the outside of the ancient Angkor City. We base the tour on this historical and fascinating route.

We're going to enjoy a sunrise over Angkor, so we have an early start from Siem Reap at around 4.30 to 5am (depending on season), taking take the short 20 minutes journey to Angkor Wat. On the way, we'll will stop at the ticket booths in case you need to purchase a day pass costing US$20.

We start off at the magnificent Angkor Wat for sunrise photographs. The sun rises in the east, so we will be at the western end of the main building, to get the best views and photographs.

We'll have breakfast (included) opposite the entrance to Angkor Wat, before moving on to Prasat Kravan temple and then the Reservoir of Sras Srang (Royal Baths). Here, the early morning light is sensational. We visit the atmospheric small temple of Banteay Kdei; which is less known & quieter than its neighbour Ta Prohm.

We continue to the brick temples Pre Rup and East Mebon which used to be an island in the vast Eastern Baray (reservoir).

We'll enjoy a break for lunch (included) at a Khemr family restaurant near to Angkor Wat.

Back on tour, we'll visit Ta Som, which is a small Bayon style temple with a tree clad tower on its east side. We also visit the healing place of Preah Neak Poan with 5 pools in a cruciform pattern.

The highlight to the day is Preah Khan, which is a fabulous and vast temple second in size to Angkor Wat; It is a very complex partial ruin with some spectacular tree clad ruins and a unique 2 story Greek style building. Its a great place to be later in the afternoon.

We usually arrive back into Siem Reap around 3 ?4pm
