Tour Itinerary

We leave Siem Reap around 7.15am for a 45mins drive through beautiful countryside, directly to the Temple of Banteay Srey. This 'Jewel in the Crown' of all the Angkor Temples is a very small and unique temple, with the finest carvings in the Angkor region. Almost every surface has been decorated with three dimensional carvings of an intricacy that can take ones breath away.

Banteay Srey is in beautiful condition and delights those who see it at any time of the day.

We visit before 9 am when the light filtering through the trees illuminates the red stone. It is at its best for photography in the morning. The lovely moat reflects the temple at most of the year and water lilies add a sympathetic colour to the scene. We have time to see this temple before the big tour groups arrive. We usually spend around one hour here.

Kbal Spean; commonly known as the valley of a 1000 Lingas, is around 15 minutes drive on good road from Banteay Srey. We take around 2 hours to visit this

site; including the 1500 metre walk up the steep path to the famous Kbal Spean Rock Bridge and waterfalls. The lingas were a very important to the Hindus who

carved the phallic symbols in the 10th century. This was done to fertilize the waters from the sacred spring; the source of the Siem Reap river. There are fine

examples of animal carvings and Hindu Deities to be seen here.

We have lunch while en-route through beautiful and unspoiled countryside to the lesser visited, but interesting temple of Banteay Samre which is named after the Samré, an ancient people of Indochina. the temple uses the same materials as the Banteay Srei, but was constructed in the style of Angkor Wat. Our final visit for the day is to the Rolus Group. These temples are set in a stunning location. The Bakong is a highly significant pre Angkorian site; built in the 9thcentury by King Indravar-man I. The temple surrounded by a moat has a five stepped pyramid with a lotus flower tower at its summit. This tower was an addition built in the 12 the century. in Angkor Wat style.

We'll arrive back into Siem Reap around 6pm.
