Tour Itinerary

We depart around 7am from Siem Reap for the one-hour journey to Kampong Khleang. We usually make a couple of short photo stops along the way. This also gives us opportunity to experience the sights and sounds of a local market and village school.

We approach the village by road, via Damdek and or by boat in the flood season (August to February) Kompong Khleang is at its most spectacular at low water, when the houses tower up to ten metres above the river. At high Water the atmosphere changes markedly. The Roads become canals, so we can enjoy cruising in our own chartered boat between the houses in this "Venice" of South east Asia.

A feature of this tour is our visit to the floating fish market, where we meet the friendly fishermen and buy fresh fish for our lunch. We have a fish lunch at the stilt house of a local village family, following which we take a pleasant drive of around an hour, to Beng Mealea.

Beng Mealea temple is truly a fabulous place for those who want to see a vast and spectacular jungle temple in its raw unrestored state. Set within a moat of over 1 Sq Km; this temple is the most mysterious of all. Cloaked in vegetation with huge trees growing out of the ruins. Beng Mealea looks much as it did when first discovered.

Our 75 minute drive back to Siem Reap takes us through some beautiful Cambodia countryside, alongside rice fields and beautiful sugar-palm trees.

We return into Siem Reap between 5 and 6pm
