Tour Itinerary

Cambodia is now developing at a rapid pace and is shaking off the horrors of recent times. At the forefront of this development are many NGO's (Non-Governmental Organizations), assisting local communities with sustainable projects from basic needs such as clean water provision and sanitation, through to education, and long-term environmental strategies.

Peace of Angkor Tours has long been a financial supporter of selected local NGO's and charities. This exclusive tour is intended to introduce you to a first-hand experience of current projects assisting the local community.

We start the tour near Siem Reap town, visiting Grace House Globalteer Project.

Grace House combines schooling and vocational training to both children and adults. There are five classrooms offering free-of-charge lessons to local children. Grace House have also established vocational training and work for women, who manufacture bags woven from recycled plastics, which they sell through outlets in Siem Reap.

They have recently established a small training center for young adults to learn domestic electrical and wiring skills. This is an excellent opportunity to see real development in a calm and relaxing setting.

We now visit The Trailblazer Cambodia Organization. Originally established in 2005 by the USA charity The Trailblazer Foundation - this NGO has made a dramatic change to the lives of people living in villages around Siem Reap. We will look at their water-filter production facility, which has provided immediate and tangible benefits to over 1500 families. We will also learn about other sustainable agricultural projects that they have initiated, including drip-feed irrigation systems that are helping many people grow crops and food more effectively.

We travel approximately one hour north-east out of Siem Reap to experience the Angkor Centre for Conservation of Biodiversity at Kbal Spean. Our packed lunch will be enjoyed here prior to being guided around the ACCB nature conservation centre.

We will learn how endangered species are rescued and cared for. Mammals, birds and many reptiles, can be seen and are safely cared for in their natural environment.

This part of our tour is guided by one of the very knowledgeable ACCB staff, who are also on-hand to answer any questions about this fascinating project.

Our journey back towards Siem Reap takes us first to the Landmine Museum where we can see and understand the dangers of landmines and the massive efforts to clear them.

This small registered charity has been established by Aki Ra, an ex-Khemr Rouge child-soldier, who was conscripted to lay mines when he was just 11 years old. He has now devoted his life to de-mining and also operating a small orphanage for children who themselves are vicitms of the landmine legacy.

Our last call is to visit the workshops of the Orphans and Disabled Arts Association.

We will see how the children of the ODA have developed art and drawing skills to such degree that their work is of significant commercial value. Income from their work supports them and the future growth of the orphanage.

This Cambodian-run organisation provides a home, schooling and art instruction for up to 20 children. This visit never fails to please both the children and our tour group.

WE DONATE 30% FROM THIS TOUR HELP TO FUND THE ORGANIZATIONS WE VISIT.

YOU ARE NOT OBLIGED TO MAKE ANY FURTHER ADDITIONAL DONATIONS.
