SIC-C Great Wall Badaling Section and Ming Tombs
Highlights:
We will head first to the Ming Tombs, burial grounds to 13 of the 16 Ming emperors. Contrary to the usual tradition when a new dynasty replaces the old, the Manchus (Qing) took good care of the site and kept its structures from dilapidating. We will visit the Changling Tomb, a stand-alone burial "complex" whose ground structure alone consists of three separate courtyards.
After a relaxing lunch, we will go see the Great Wall at the Badaling section. Bring light refreshments if you plan on doing some heavy climbing as the sun on a typcial summer day can be particularly punishing.
We will break up the busy day (or whenever it is conveninent) with some bargain hunting at the Longdi Jade factory. Jade is the supreme embodiment of a gentleman's virtues and is a typical case where its price cannot begin to express its value.
