Tour Itinerary
SIC-E Tour I of Historic Beijing 1 Day
Highlights:
Our bus will stop first at Tian'anmen Square, the largest city center in the world, but usually packed with people at all times of the day. Tian'anmen Tower, Monument to the People's Heroes, Great Hall of the People and particularly Chairman Mao's Mausoleum draw huge crowds and deserve at least a few snapshots for the increasingly ambiguous ideology they pay tribute to.
We will then arrive at the Forbidden City and walk the grounds once only open to the imperial court and those fortunate/unfortunate enough to be granted special audience by the emperor. You can expect an in-depth exploration of the premises with our professional guides offering insights and anecdotes while strolling through the largest palace complex in the world.
After lunch we will continue our tour of Beijing's imperial past with a visit to the Temple of Heaven, the imperial worship ground in the Ming and Qing dynasties. Once hallowed grounds where only the emperors prayed to the Heaven for the well-being of the entire land, the temples, altars and halls in this complex are designed with grace, sombreness and pious adherence to religious traditions.
A stop by the Yuanlong Silk store is also on the schedule. Great opportunity to get your hands on quality silk products at discount price.
