Tour Itinerary
There is more to West Berlin than just shopping! On this tour, we take you where the locals go, showing you sights off the beaten track you won't find in any guidebooks. After the 1890s, the districts of Charlottenburg, Schöneberg and Tiergarten, formed a counterpart to the old historic city burgeoning with department stores, theatres, cafés and other night life venues that inspired the musical Cabaret. Hitler's rise to power put an abrupt end to the "Golden Twenties", the area flourished as an "island" of political refuge and cultural experimentation during the Cold War. Stroll along the Kurfürstendamm, Berlin's answer to the Champs Elysées. See where Einstein lived, JFK delivered his (in)famous "Ich bin ein Berliner" speech and Germans learned to talk about sex - and of course the iconic KaDeWe department store! Finish at the bustling Winterfeldtplatz with its wonderful cafés and restaurants!
