The New Berlin Essential Bike Tour meets at the famous Postfuhramt building on Oranienburger Straße in the hip Mitte District. Every tour begins with a visit inside this incredible building which was once Berlin's 19th Century Central Post Office: we even store our brand new city bikes in the renovated horse stalls, which were formerly used for housing the stallions used for the German Pony Express! We help set you up on your own Drahtesel - the Berliner nickname for bicycle, literally meaning 'wire donkey'. After making sure that your extra-comfortable, shock-absorbing seat is the right height for a perfect ride, you'll have a little refresher time to get familiar with your new wheels in our historic courtyard. For those feeling a little unsure of being back on a bike, don't worry! After our patented Smart-Ride safety tips, you'll be cruising confidently with the best of them!
If you want to rent a bike beforehand, and come ready to ride, you're welcome to. Refer to the maps on www.newberlinmagazine.com to find a bike shop near you.
