Tour Itinerary
There is no other city in the world like Nuremberg. Only here can you see both the beauty of medieval Germany and the monstrous architecture of Hitler's Third Reich still preserved. Nuremberg was chosen as the site of the infamous Nazi Party Rallies because it was the center of the Holy Roman Empire, a wondrously preserved city of the middle-ages and living link to Germany's “First Reich.” We'll explore both sides of this city's fascinating past, plus see what makes Nuremberg so popular today: the greatest Christmas Markets in Germany (the Christmas Markets are in December, but Christmas shopping is available year-round), fantastic regional food like the famous Nuremberg sausages, and a pleasantly relaxed Old Town perfect for sight-seeing and shopping.
We start out by strolling past city walls stretching five kilometers, through the Craftsmen's Court and the magnificent Gothic Church of St. Lawrence, then into the marketplace and up to the spectacular fortress of the Free Imperial City. We'll tell you the fascinating stories behind the main sites, give you some practical advice like where to find the best food and drink and show you a few places off the beaten path as well!
After a break for lunch in the marketplace we take a bus to the Nazi Party Rally Grounds, where Hitler transformed eleven square kilometers of this city with his monumental building projects. The largest Third Reich buildings in the world still stand here, silently testifying to the megalomania of a madman. Hear why Nuremberg was chosen for the Nazi Rallies, the Race Purity Laws, and the War Crime Trials, where, amid the rubble of Hitler's "Temple City," the Nazi leadership was proven guilty before the eyes of the world.
All transportation costs are included in the ticket price! You'll also see the site of the city's first Jewish ghetto, the Beautiful Fountain, the Albrecht Dürer House, and the Luitpold Arena made famous in the Nazi propaganda film “Triumph of the Will.” We finish around 3 pm.
