The historic land of Galilee has been home to civilizations for thousands of years, and is the place where Jesus of Nazareth conducted much of his teaching and ministry.
Modern Galilee is also home to considerable ethnic and religious diversity: Christians, Muslims, and Jews. Hebrews and Arabs call this wonderful land their home and all are known for their warm and inviting Middle Eastern hospitality. Finally, Galilee is home to abounding natural beauty. The mountainous terrain and ample rain give rise to beautiful biodiversity offering streams and forests filled with birds, animals and wildflowers.
Through this beautiful land winds the Jesus Trail, a hiking route connecting all of the major sites from Jesus' life. In the Galilee the Biblical story unfolds, and travelers have an opportunity to participate in it the same way that Jesus and his disciples traveled from village to village. On the trail, travelers follow in the footsteps of Jesus and travel simply, as he commanded: "Take nothing for the journey: no staff, no bag, no bread, no money, no extra tunic" (Luke 9:3). In this way they gain a truly authentic experience and a new appreciation for how Jesus lived and taught.
Explore all of highlights from Jesus Trail in this three day package. The adventure will begin in Nazareth and continues through ancient Roman cities, along scenic cliffs, and through places from the Bible like the Mount of Beatitudes and Capernaum. The adventure will include a combination of traveling by tour bus and easy outdoor hiking. Gain an appreciation for the land of Galilee: the olive groves and wheat fields, the kibbutzim and villages, and the forests and wadis. Spend your nights in the historic Fauzi Azar Inn, a 19th century mansion in the heart of the old city of Nazareth. The trip will be ideal for all those who wish to get a feel for the people, the history, and the landscape of Galilee by following in the footsteps of Jesus.
Day 1
: 08:30 Begin the morning at Nazareth at the Basilica of the annunciation, and follow the Jesus Trail. Hike along the Jesus Trail to Zippori (9.67km) and arrive at around, stopping along the way at Mensa Christi church, enjoying the view from the top of Nazareth. Explore the ancient Roman capital of Zippori for an hour. The tour bus will meet the participants at Zippori, providing pre-packaged lunches.Continue on the Jesus Trail along an ancient aqueduct to Cana (5.6km). Spend the late afternoon exploring the Wedding churches and the town of Cana,
By 6:30pm, bus from Cana back to the Fauzi Azar Inn.
Arrive in Nazareth, and enjoy a relaxing evening and eating dinner at a local restaurant (on own).
Day 2
: Begin with breakfast at the Fauzi at 8:00am, travel by bus to the Golani Junction. Hike 3km to Kibbutz Lavi, walking along a Roman road and through wheat fields on the way. Have an early lunch at the Kibbutz.Leave the kibbutz and hike to the top of the Horns of Hattin (4.5km), enjoy the view in the afternoon.Finish the hike by descending to Nebi Shueib (2km) from the top of the Horns of Hattin along the Jesus Trail. Arrive at Nebi Shueib and time to explore the site.Afterwards bus transfer back to Nazareth.
Back to the Fauzi Azar Inn and enjoy Arabic-style BBQ dinner.
Day 3
: Begin with breakfast at the Fauzi Azar Inn at 8:00am, and leave by bus for the Arbel. Then take the Jesus Trail from the ancient Arbel synagogue to the cliffs (1.9km). Reach to top of Arbel.Enjoy the view, then descend on the Jesus Trail following a section of the Israel National Trail to Wadi Hamam (2.2km), pausing to explore the cave fortress built into the cliffs. Eat lunch near Wadi Hamam. Leave by bus for St Peter�s Primacy and Tabgha.Hike up to the Mount of Beatitudes (1.6km), and explore the gardens and chapel. Travel by foot or bus to Capernaum by foot (3.8km, easy walking mostly on sidewalk). Visit Capernaum .End of Tour !
