Say "Hello" to a California Gray Whale up close! The experience is awe-inspiring. During a short time of each year these gigantic mammals visit Baja Mexico. See them in our earth friendly hostel on wheels that motors down the road on 100% recycled waste vegetable oil. If you enjoy mother nature than the Baja Beach Bus is for you. This adventure trek BEGINS AND ENDS IN SAN DIEGO CA. or Jump on or Jump off along the way Trek includes 70% food

Day 1

We all meet at the Baja Trek pick-up location in sunny San Diego. From here it's down the Pacific Coast as we hug the beach to Ensenada where we stop for last minute supplies and passenger pick-ups. Then it's farther south through the vineyards of Santo Tomas valley and the fishing town of San Quentin. Our destination, Catavina, lies in the Vizcaino desert. Here, we'll nestle among the cactus for the evening. Catavina offers cacti species not found anywhere else, as well as, ancient native cave paintings and impressive rock gardens to explore.

Day 2 / 3 / 4

Thar she blows! Whales! After a gentle drive through the middle of Baja, Day two finds us at Laguna Ojo De Liebre (Scammon's Lagoon) the winter home of the friendly Gray Whale. At the lagoon we're able to camp close enough to see and hear the whales from shore. During the day we'll hire a local boat to get up close to these docile wonders. While here you may also wish to explore the lagoon's ecosystem, play among the tide pools or simply walk the shoreline and view the wildlife. At night marvel at the hues of the sunset by the campfire and listen to the hypnotic rhythm of the ocean under some of the most astounding star-filled skies in the hemisphere.

Day 5

Vayamos a la Bahia. It's off to Bahia de Los Angeles for sun and fun. In the morning we'll begin our trek across the peninsula to the dark blue waters of the Sea of Cortez. Bahia de Los Angeles is home to the Sea Turtle Research Station, several abandoned mines, many islands and dolphins.

Day 6 & 7

We start the day with a resplendent sunrise and a hearty breakfast. Enjoy the local Baja vibe. Some of the options include kayaking, museums, dolphin sighting, sea turtles, kite flying, clamming and fishing. At night enjoy the tangerine skies as the sun sets. You could spend a year here and still not do or see it all.

Day 8 & 9

After a lazy breakfast it's a mellow ride north through the desert on our way to the Pacific ocean coast. Once there we'll settle in for the night next to the beach. After some coastal exploring we'll do dinner and unwind by the campfire. Feel free to get the kayaks out and enjoy the sunset over the Pacific.

Day 10

We'll do our last Baja breakfast and ride to Ensenada for last minute souvenir shopping. Then it's norte amigos to the Baja Trek drop off location in San Diego. Once here it's time to experience some of the famous tourist area and say goodbye to friends who are crossing the border.
