Tour Itinerary

Itinerary with tour explanation:

Day 1: Arrival in Nepal (Kathmandu Airport)

Pick up from airport, rest in hotel. Evening visit to Monkey Temple lies on the hilltop only a kilometer far from Thamel for Kathmandu evening Valley view.

Day 2: Whole day sightseeing in Kathmandu Valley.

After breakfast you have sightseeing tour in Kathmandu Valley. The Valley is cradle of Nepali culture and civilization is the largest valley in the Midlands and certainly the most beautiful. There are seven UNESCO recognized World Heritage Sites within 20 kms. Those are: Swayambhu Nath Stupa, Boudha Nath, Bhaktapur City, Changu Narayan Temple, Pashupatinath Temple, Kathmandu Durbar Square, Patan Durbar Square. Today we arrange you to visit all above Cultural Center. Over night in hotel.

Day 3: Kathmandu - Jiri (By bus)

The Road (Chinese-cunstructed Kodawari Highway that links Nepal with Tibet) descends to Panchkhal from Kathmandu Valley via Dulikhel. Then follows the Indrawati River downstream to its confluence with the Sun Kosi at Dolalghat. The road climbs above Namdu and past Mina Pokhari. The people of Jiri and the surrounding area are Jirels, a subgroup of Sunwars whose language is related to that of the Sherpas.

Day 4: Jiri - Shivalaya.

Climb past some houses, then turn right, climbing diagonally towards the top of the ridge. The first part of the hike is in deep forests then fields, passing the tiny settlements of Bharkur and Ratmati and finally reaching pasture as it nears the top of ridge. Crossing a ridge at 2400 meters, the trail begins to descend into the Khimti River Valley. From Mali, a sparsely populated Sherpa settlement at 2240 meters, the trail descends alongside a stream lead to Shivalaya, a small bazaar and police check post at 1750 meters.

Day 5: Shivalaya - Bhandara.

The trail climbs a bit in forests, then descends past Kartike to the Khimti Khola then follows the river upstream to Those at 1750 meters. After an initially steep descent on stone steps, the trail reaches the outskirts of the large village of Bhandar and descends gradually through fields and pastures to a gompa and two imposing chortens at 2200 meters. A chorten is literally a receptacle for offerings and often holds religious relics. Each of its elements has a symbolic meaning.

Day 6: Bhandara - Sete.

As you follow the trail up the east bank of the river to Kenja, watch for gray langur monkeys in the forests. Continue along the east bank of the river, climbing over a spur, through the settlement of Namang Gaon, before crossing a small suspension bridge at Kenja a small village inhabited by Newars and Magars. Then ahead for Sete village with a small defunct monastery, there is good camping ground.

Day 7: Sete - Nunthala.

The condition of your trail is fairly gradual, climb-although in spots it gets steep - to the top of the 3530-meter Lamjura Pass. After trekking through Sherpa villages, the trail then descends through a conifer and rhododendron forest alive with birds. There are a few shepherds' huts alongside the trail, but the route is mostly in dense forest. The trail crosses several picturesque streams on wooden bridges just before it reaches Nunthala at 2320 meters.

Day 8: Nuntahala - Kharikhola.

From here, the descent continues to the Dudh Koshi- the largest river en route since the Sun Koshi. The trail now concludes its trip eastward and turns north up the Dudh Koshi Valley. The trail on the eastern side of the river is rough as it crosses debris left by a flood that destroyed a previous incarnation of this bridge in 1985. From the ridge you can see Khari Khola below you and the peak of Khumbila at the northern end of the Dudh Koshi Valley. Khari Khola is predominantly a Sherpa village, though it also has a small Magar community. Descend a bit on a sandy trail, then it's a pleasant walk into the main Khari Khola settlement at 2070 meters.

Day 9: Kahrikhola - Phakding.

The trail descends from here and crosses a stream and then climbs steadily, but gently, through forests inhabited by monkeys. The Dudh Koshi canyon is extremely steep here and in many places you can see all the way to the river. The region from Khari Khola to Jorsale is called Pharak. The Sherpas in this area have slightly different traditions from their neighbors in Solu and Khumbu & have better agricultural opportunities due to the gentler climate in the Dudh Koshi Valley.

Day 10: Phakding - Namche Bazaar.

Upper Phakding is just above the Khumbu Alpine Camp and group comp sites. From Phakding the trail continues north up the Dudh Koshi Valley. There is a climb of several hundred meters, a steep descent and another steep climb, all through forest. Up the forested valley there is a view of Mt Everest peak over the ridge of Nuptse. When the trail turns into a stream, take the right, upper trail to reach the main street of Namche. Namche Bazaar at 3440 meters is the administrative center for the Khumbu region.

Day 11: Rest in Namche Bazaar

Today you have acclimatization day. If you are interested your guide take you to Thame, a typical Sherpa Village with an old and significant monastery called Thame Monastery.

Day 12: Namche - Tengboche.

A more varied trip is via a slightly linger route visiting Khumjung, the largest village in Khumbu, and Khunde, its smaller neighbor. The trail descends gradually to Tsehinga, then steeply to Phunki Thanga, a small settlement with three small hotels and several water-driven prayer wheels on the banks of the Dudh Koshi at 3250 meters. It is two-hour climb to Tengboche The view from this spot, seen to best advantage in the morning, is rightly deemed to be one of the most magnificent in the world.

Day 13: Tengboche Pheriche.

From Tengboche it's a short, steep and muddy descent to Devuche through a forest of birches, conifers and rhododendrons. Because of the ban on hunting at Tengboche, you can often see almost tame blood pheasants and Nepal's national bird, the Himalayan monal or impeyan pheasant, which lives only at high altitudes. From Pangboche the route enters alpine meadows above the tree line. Most of the vegetation is scrub juniper and tundra. Pheriche is a labyrinth of walls and pastures.

Day 14: Pheriche - Chukung Valley - Pheriche.

A more strenuous trip is to climb the hill to Dingboche, then hike up the Imja Khola Valley past Bibre to Chhukung, a small summer settlement at 4730 meters. The views from Chhukung and further up the valley on the moraines towards Island Peak (6189 meters) is tremendous. After lunch you will come back to Pheriche.

Day 15: Pheriche - Lobuche.

The trail ascends the broad, gently sloping valley from Pheriche to Phalang Karpo at 4340 meters. In many places the trail crosses small streams on boulders. Look back down the valley from Phalang Karpo to see how much elevation you have gained. The views of Tawachee and Cholatse (6440 meters) are particularly good from this portion of the trail as it passes through country reported to be the habitat of the snow leopard and yeti.

Day 16: Lobuche - Kalapathhar - Gorakhshep.

The first section of the trail from Lobuche follows the western side of the broad khumbu Valley and ascends gently through meadows beside the glacial moraine. The trail makes a short descent onto the sandy flat expanse of Gorakhshep (5160 meters). You can easily make the ascent of Kalapathhar in the afternoon and back to Gorakhshep same day for overnight.

Day 17: Gorakhshep - Everest BC - Lobuche.

Early in the morning you move for Everest Base Camp and evening you will back down to Lobuche.

Day 18: Lobuche - Tengboche.

Day 19: Tengboche - Syannasa.

Day 20: Syannasa - Dole.

Day 21: Dole - Machherma.

Day 22: Macharma - Gokyo.

From Gokyo, more of Everest itself is visible, though from a slightly greater distance than from Kalapathhar above Gorakhshep.

Day 23: Gokyo - Gokyo Ri - Gokyo.

The mountains are more spectacular, the Ngozumpa Glacier is the largest in the Nepal Himalayas and from a ridge above Gokyo, four 8000-meter peaks are visible at once. The view of the tremendous ice ridge between Cho You (8153 meters) and Gyachung Kang (7922 meters) is one of the most dramatic panoramas in Khumbu.

Day 24: Gokyo -Khumjung Valley.

There are many options for additional exploration and high altitude walking, including the crossing of Cho La, a 5420-meter-high pass into Khumbu.

Day 25: Khumjung Valley - Namche Bazaar.

Day 26: Namche Bazaar - Lukla.

Day 27: Lukla - Kharikhola.

Day 28: Kharikhola - Nunthala.

Day 29: Nunthala - Junibesi.

Day 30: Junibesi - Sagar.

Day 31: Sagar - Bhandara.

Day 32: Bhandara - Jiri.

Day 33: Jiri - Kathmandu - Bhaktapur.

Day 34: Rest and souvenir shopping

Today you will spend your last day of this trip in Nepal with shopping Nepali products as souvenir for your family and friends. If necessary guide us happy to help you for shopping.

Day 35: Drive back to KTM Int'l Airport for onward flight.

In the morning, after breakfast our airport representative will go Kathmandu Airport to drop you there. Your trip in Nepal (Nature Tour to Everest Area is completed!).
