  17. The best fabric material is polyester or spandex lycra, due to their hydrophobic properties they don’t absorb moisture appreciably and dry fast, this favours body’s refrigeration making evaporation easier.
  18. Nylon and cotton are hydrophilic, absorb and retain moisture, and dry slowly, do not evaporate fast so body’s refrigeration takes longer.
  19. Clothes must fit loose and light colours block solar radiation better and absorb less heat.
  20. Colours blues, green and beige provide better protection against UV radiation.

  25. d. Shirts or t-shirts, short or long sleeve according with you tolerance against the sun. Cycling jerseys are an excellent option.

  30. The progressive layering approach is recommended to keep comfortably warm, control the optimum temperature and avoid excessive dangerous sweat.
  31. Wearing sweat dampened and cold clothes would lead to hypothermia.
  32. Correct progressive layering thermal insulation:
  33. 1st layer: Light polyester clothes: shirt and shorts for day hot weather
  34. When temperatures starts to drop, put on the windshield jacket and pants over the 1st layer.
  35. If temperatures cools more, put on a thermal shirt over the polyester one and the windshield jacket back on.
  36. If temperature declines even more, put on a thermal pant over the shorts and the windshield pant back on.
  37. And pull on the warm hat, gloves and 2 or 3 layers of socks.

Tour Itinerary


Day 1: Lima

Arrival. Reception and meeting with our representative. Transfer to the hotel in Lima. Lima city tour in the afternoon or evening depending on arrival time.


Day 2: Lima – Pisco (Ballestas Islands)- Ica

Early morning departure. Car trip to Pisco. In the morning boat tour to the Ballestas Islands. Bike tour across the Paracas wildlife reserve. In the afternoon continue by car to Ica to the hotel. Visit to a local traditional winery.


Day 3: Nazca: Flight over the Nazca Lines

In the morning car trip to Nasca. Flight over the Nasca Lines. In the afternoon bike tour to visit the archaeological sites in the outskirts of Nasca. Evening open. Overnight in a local hotel


Day 4: To Majes

Car trip to Majes along the Southern Panamerican Highway. On the way stop to visit the Sacaco fossilized whales deposit and at Puerto Inka lodge for lunch and to visit the ancient fishing settlement that was the supply source of fresh fish to the Inka emperor. Evening arrival in a local hotel in Majes.


Day 5: Majes: Toro Muerto. To Colca

In the morning visit to the Toro Muerto extensive petroglyphs deposit. Lunch at the traditional restaurant Punta Colorada, serving fresh water shrimps based meals. Afternoon car trip to Colca canyon, arriving at the first town Cabanaconde in the night.


Day 6: Colca Canyon: Cruz del condor

Car trip to Cruz del Condor to watch condors flying around. Nice bike ride along Colca canyon to Yanque. Stay here for lunch, and hot spring swimming pool. Overnight in a delightful basic local lodge.


Day 7: To Arequipa. Full day in Arequipa

Early departure. Car trip to Arequipa. Arrival at 9am. Lunch in a local restaurant to taste the delicious Arequipa’s cuisine. Afternoon Arequipa city tour. Overnight in a local hotel.


Day 8: To Puno

Car trip to Puno 6 hours. Visit Sillustani pre inca settlement. Overnight in a local hotel.


Day 9: Lake Titikaka: Uros and Amantani islands

Boat trip to visit the Uros floating islands and Amantani island. Overnight in a local family house in the island.


Day 10: To Cusco

Return to Puno. Car trip to Cusco. Visit some towns on the way: Pukara, Racchi, etc. Cusco arrival in the evening overnight in a local hotel.


Day 11: Cusco

Morning open. Afternoon Cusco city tour. Evening open. Overnight in a local hotel.


Day 12: Urubamba valley: Maras - Moray

Transfer to Huaypo from here continue cycling through the Urubamba valley to the town of Maras and the experimental terraces of Moray, about 35km on dirt roads and single track, passing through small villages. Lunch at Moray with a visit to the salt mines of Salineras. Afternoon arrival to Urubamba. Accommodation in a local lodge.


Day 13: Inka trail 1st day Cusco - Chilca - Wayllabamba (L) (D)

Transfer to Chilca (km 88) to begin the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu. Lunch after three hours trek. Continue trekking towards first camp at Wayllabamba, on the way guided tour of the archaeological complex of Patallacta. Dinner and overnight at the campsite.


Day 14: Inka trail 2nd day Wayllabamba - Warmiwañusca - Pacaymayo (B) (L) (D)

After breakfast, the toughest part of the trail begin, walking towards the highest point of the Inca Trail offering breathtaking panoramic views of the whole area. After a 3 hours walk the first pass, named Warmiwañiusca is reached at approximately 4,200 m.a.s.l. After lunch you continue down to Pacaymayo for camp and have dinner.


Day 15: Inka trail 3rd day Pacaymayo - Puya Patamarka - Wiñay Huayna (B) (L) (D)

After breakfast start the descent towards the second pass of the trail at 3,850 m.a.s.l. with a guided visit at the archaeological complex of Runkurakay and the Inca citadel of Sayacmarca. Continue trekking towards Puya Patamarka archaeological monument. Break for lunch. Continue walking to Wiñay Huayna, guided visit of this impressive archaeological complex with a spectacular setting. Dinner and overnight at the camp.


Day 16: Inka trail 4th day Wiñay Huayna - Machu Picchu - Cusco (B)

After breakfast, a very early departure to arrive on time for sunrise at Machu Picchu. One hour trek through the forest the Inti Punku, Machu Picchu’s entrance gateway is reached, impressive panoramic view of the citadel. At Machu Picchu, three-hours guided tour around the citadel, visiting the main sites and monuments. After the tour free time to wander around. Bus transfer down to Aguas Calientes and on by train to Cusco. Overnight in a local hotel.


Day 17: 1st day Puerto Maldonado

Transfer to airport. Flight Cusco – Pto. Maldonado. Rest at the Puerto Maldonado Lodge. 4 hours river boat transfer to the Jungle Lodge at the Primary Zone of the Tambopata Wildlife Reserve. Accomodation at the lodge. Evening trek to the jungle.


Day 18: 2nd day Puerto Maldonado

Early trek before down to the parrot clay lick on the banks of the River Gato. After breakfast relax time in the surroundings of the lodge, good for fishing or swim in a nearby waterfall. After lunch 1 hour journey further up the River Tambopata into the Bahuaja-Sonene National Park. Arrive at the Chuncho Collpa site in the late afternoon and camp set up on the river beach. Unique real jungle live experience.


Day 19: 3rd day Puerto Maldonado

Early wake up at dawn to watch, hear and feel jungle wildlife in the first few hours after sunrise. After breakfast follows a brief jungle trek and return to the Jungle Lodge for a Ethno botanical trek. Lunch. Free open afternoon for relaxing, fishing, swimming or walk to visit a local native community. Dinner. Evening boat tour to watch caimans in the night.


Day 20: 4th day Puerto Maldonado

Breakfast. Return trip to the Puerto Maldonado Lodge. Lunch. Afternoon canoe trip and trek through the forest to Lake Sandoval. Dinner at the lodge.


Day 21: Flight to Lima

Transfer to the airport. Flight to Lima. Transfer to the hotel in LIma
