Tour Itinerary
A fantastic tour to mysterious Loch Ness taking in a diverse range of classic Highland scenery, including many ‘must see’ sites; dramatic Glencoe, might Ben Nevis, the Great Glen, Loch Ness and the forests, rivers and mountains of Highland Perthshire. Plus optional Loch Ness boat cruise (*additional payment).
Heading north from Edinburgh we pass the imposing ramparts of Stirling Castle and then skirt Rob Roy country and the banks of Loch Luibnaig. Crossing the wilds of Rannoch Moor before stopping at dramatic Glencoe, scene of the infamous massacre in 1692.
Our tour takes us past Fort William and Britain’s highest mountain, Ben Nevis, before following the Great Glen and stopping in the village of Fort Augustus, Arriving at Urquhart Castle on the banks of Loch Ness, you have the option to explore this historic site and take a short boat cruise on Loch Ness (additional cost) or stay with the coach and enjoy a leisurely lunch and stroll on the banks Loch Ness. A cruise on the mysterious and beautiful Loch Ness is an unforgettable experience offering you a chance to catch a glimpse of Nessie.
Our return journey passes through the Highland Capital of Inverness and stunning beauty of The cairngorms National Park. We then head south into Perthshire, Big Tree Country, a land of forests, rivers and mountains. We view the spectacular Forth Bridge before arriving back in Edinburgh around 8pm.
Free ‘Taste of Scotland’ Picnic Lunch
Enjoy our locally produced ‘Taste of Scotland’ picnic Lunch in Fort Augustus. Typical lunch includes: bottle of Scottish mineral water, a choice of freshly made sandwiches, fresh fruit and shortbread. Offering maximum flexibility you can take your lunch on the boat trip or enjoy a picnic by the canal or banks of Loch Ness. However if you want something more substantial for lunch, we can direct you to some great local cafes – just ask!
Please note this is a long day out with 320 miles/520km of driving. If you have time, we strongly suggest you consider our 2 Day Loch Ness, Inverness & Beyond Tour, as we are able to stop much more often and spend much more time in each area along the way. Also: This tour is not suitable for young children.
