We'll start the evening with one of our expert guides who will tell you everything about the history and origin of tapas and cuisine in the various regions of Spain. As we enjoy an ice cold sangria or beer and taste wonderful grilled vegetables, croquettes or fresh shrimp at some of the best bars in Madrid, we'll take you back to the times when king Alfonso had the brilliant idea of forcing bars to give away small portions of food with every drink.

We'll take you around the oldest and most traditional district of Madrid, La Latina, where Diego Velazquez lived and Francisco de Goya became famous, where saints were made, where bandits and rebels met their end, and where Madrid's modern stars still hang out. We'll visit three bars, one of which won a prize for the best tapa in Madrid, recommend the best restaurants and end at the Mercado de San Miguel, where the best fresh gourmet tapas in Madrid can be found under one roof. You'll learn all the secrets of tapas and Spanish culture while visiting the true Madrid and by the end of the night, you'll have met some new friends and have had a great Spanish experience you'll never forget!

Running late? Join us at our first bar, Ulysses (Calle de Felipe III) until 10:30pm.

This tour takes about 4 hours and costs €14.

Tapas Experience runs Monday to Saturdays at 6pm by the Tourist Information Office on Plaza Mayor. Just look for the guides in their red New Europe t-shirts!
