Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial Tour
Soon after the Nazis took power, the future head of the SS (Heinrich Himmler) ordered the construction of Dachau to serve as a prison for political (and later social and ethnic) enemies of Nazi Germany. By the time American soldiers liberated the camp in 1945, more than 40,000 people had lost their lives to the camp's deadly conditions and the guards' brutality.
We provide a fully comprehensive tour. Our guides have been specially AUTHORIZED by the Camp Memorial to provide tours within the Camp (many companies claim a full tour, but only accompany you to the camp, so watch out. We provide the full package.)
Where and When?
Tuesday-Sunday at 10:45 am
by the column in the center of Marienplatz (S/U-Bahn).
€19, €15 for students (includes transportation to and from the memorial)
My guide was Aaron, who managed to be cool, friendly, informative, entertaining… He answered all our questions politely, even when they really dumb ones, and seemed to enjoy it more when we were asking
questions of him. He made it interesting to want to learn more about the history of the camp. And 2 hours has never flown by so quickly… I feel that New Munich provided me with the better information,
a friendlier commentary and better interaction between guide and tourist. This is a seriously underrated resource for tourists, which I will be letting everybody know about - here in my travels and at home.
