Highlights:
Your tour will begin at the Yonghe Lamasery, a prime example of multicultural architecture incorporating designs from Han, Mongolian, Manchu and Tibetan architectures. While admiring the holy artifacts including the awe-inspiring 60-foot Maitreya Buddha (carved out of a single sandalwood tree), tread lightly and try not to disturb the lamas at their prayers.
We will then move on to the Panda Garden in the Beijing Zoo and give you a chance to see the cuddly panda bears up close.
After a substantial lunch, you will have plenty time to fight your belly bulge with a stroll in the Summer Palace, the 800-year old former imperial resort. Its man made lakes and ornately decorated rooms welcomed two dynasties' emperors and countless nobilities and dignitries.
Sometime during the trip when it is convenient, we will make a stop at the White Peacock Silk Carpet factory. Don't hesitate to make a purchase if something catches your eye as the prices are low by industry standards.
