Tour Itinerary

Itinerary:
Oslo – Borgund stave church – Vøringsfossen waterfall – The Sogne fjord – The Nærøy fjord – Folgefonna – Oslo

The tour starts in Oslo with the main objective of introducing you to some of the world’s most beautiful fjords. Along the way you will cross mountain passes, see spectacular glaciers and waterfalls, and visit a stave church.

The Borgund stave church is our first destination, one of 28 such wooden, medieval structures remaining in Norway. The Borgund church was erected in the 12th century and is one of the best preserved of its kind. You will be able to enter the church and get a close feel of its magical and historic atmosphere.

Then we continue to one of Norway’s most well-known attractions, the Vøringsfossen waterfall. It has a vertical drop of 145 meters. The next highlight is the Nærøy fjord, a 20 km long branch of the Sogne fjord, the world’s second longest fjord, with a total length of 204 km. The Nærøy fjord is only 250 meters wide in its narrowest parts, and with mountains rising to more than 1800 meters on both sides it is a spectacular sight. In fact, the area around the Nærøy fjord is nothing short of Norway’s most fascinating fjord landscape.

The final natural highlight of this trip is Folgefonna, Norway’s 3rd biggest glacier. Here you can enjoy a close encounter with snow and ice in the middle of summer! You’ll get a chance to go for a short guided hike on the glacier, with all necessary safety equipment provided. Or you may just want to limit your activities to taking spectacular photos and play in the snow.

After Folgefonna, we head back to Oslo, Norway’s capital, which has a population of about 560,000. Here, there will be a short guided tour of its most famous sights, plus you will get the best tips on how to spend your time in Oslo. Included on the city tour is the Akershus Castle; the main street, Karl Johans gate; Holmenkollen ski jump and the Royal Palace.
