Tour Itinerary

Itinerary:
Oslo – Rondane national park – The Trolls’ Path – The Geiranger fjord – The Seven Sisters – The Nærøy fjord – Bergen (new) – Folgefonna glacier – Heddal stave church – Oslo

Starting out in Oslo, we spend the next 6 days exploring Norway’s most beautiful landscapes. Not only will you see the best and most famous attractions; there will also be time for some really nice outings. Plus we will introduce you to some lesser known gems.

Our first destination is the Rondane National Park and the area around Høvringen and Mysuseter. Here, you will be able to make a full-day mountain hike in magnificent terrain. Rondane offers excellent hiking for all tastes and physical abilities – from easy, level paths to demanding peak climbs. The next-door Gudbrandsdalen region is also perfect for rafting and caving, which may be organized on the group’s request.

From this rounded mountains we continue to a more Alpine region. Next stop is Trollstigen (The Trolls’ Path) in Romsdal, which is reached either by crossing the mountain pass from Valldal or from Åndalsnes. From the bottom of the valley this spectacular road winds its way through steep curves up to 850 meters above sea level, going past the Stigfossen waterfall, which tumbles 300 meters down the mountainside. We are starting from the bottom, which means we will instantly have a breathtaking, panoramic view of the valley below as we approach the top. And just around the corner is the Trolls’ Wall, Europe’s highest perpendicular precipice, plunging over 1,000 meters from its peak of 1,700 meters!

From the Trollstigen we continue to the Geiranger fjord, another ”trademark” fjord and World Heritage site. Generally considered to be one of the most beautiful of its kind, it is visited by countless cruise ships every summer. We take you out on the fjord in a boat, too, so you can fully enjoy its magic and get a chance to see the famous Seven Sisters waterfall. You will also be able to see how people for generations have been living way up in the mountainside, with the fjord as their only lifeline to the outside world.

Our tour will bring us around the Jostedalsbreen glacier, which is the largest glacier on the European mainland. The glacier covers an area of about 500 km2, larger than anything to be found in the Alps.

Then we continue to one of the world’s most spectacular fjords, the Nærøy fjord. It is only 250 meters wide in its narrowest parts, and the mountains surrounding it tower more than 1800 meters above its tranquil waters. Listed a World Heritage site by UNESCO, the Nærøy fjord represents an absolute highlight when it comes to fjord scenery.

A new attraction on this tour is the well-known city of Bergen. We will spend a whole day in this charming city which offers a lot of tradition, nice food and historical buildings.

After a day with relaxation in Bergen, we set off to enjoy the spectacular shapes of the Folgefonna, Norway’s 3rd biggest glacier. Here you can enjoy a close encounter with snow and ice in the middle of summer! You’ll get a chance to go for guided hike on the glacier, with all necessary safety equipment provided. Or you may just want to limit your activities to taking spectacular photos and play in the snow.

The last stop on our tour is the Heddal stave church, which was erected in the early 13th century. This is Norways largest and one of only 28 remainings stave churches. We then return to Oslo for a guided tour of the capital. Included on our city tour are Akershus Castle, the Opera House, the main street Karl Johan, Holmenkollen ski jump and the Royal Palace.
