  • The Original Barney's Beanery

    The Original Barney's Beanery is pretty cool. Jim Morrisson, Janis Joplin and Charles Bukowski all used to drink there. Pretty good vibe in the bar and the food menu is huge and printed in a news paper.

    Naja's Place down on Redondo pier. Nice friendly locals, lovely spot to chill out in on an afternoon, although also gets busier in the evenings. Sometimes they have people strumming guitars or a full band playing too. Loads of places to eat in the area too.

    For a big fat bar, try The Yard House in downtown LA. They have over 130 different beers on tap. I posted a short story about it in 2009.
