Now in its 42nd year and featuring an eclectic line-up designed to suit everyone, Bumbershoot is a great arts-and-music festival held in the Seattle Centre, right in downtown Seattle. With music, film, comedy, spoken word, dance, theatre, performance and visual arts, this festival is great for families as well as music fiends. Some of this year’s highlights include Jane’s Addiction, Tony Bennet, Skrillex, Gotye, Alela Diane and Mudhoney. Best of all, as it’s in the city centre, there’s no tents or mud required!

Berlin Festival, Berlin, Germany

The Berlin Festival is a lively music and arts event happening in the decommissioned Flughafen Tempelhof airport on the edge of Berlin. Not only does this festival feature a great line-up including Grimes, Sigur Ros, the Killers, Major Lazer and Iamamiwhoami, your ticket will also get you into Club Xberg, keeping the party going after midnight in venues across Berlin. There’s also an art village onsite featuring more than 60 artists.

Outlook, Pula, Croatia

Outlook is Europe’s biggest underground bass music and soundsystem culture festival. Now in its fifth year, this time around the festival will feature Lee Scratch Perry, Zion Train, Skream and a whole bunch more across 12 stages and party areas, including boats, beaches and dungeons. It’s followed three days later by the Dimensions festival.

If you’re looking to spend some time on the beach and enjoy some of the newest and most exciting underground electronic music around, Dimension is the place to be. This festival has 10 stages, twice-daily boat parties and a line-up including Nicholas Jaar, Joy Orbison, Theo Parrish, Andrew Weatherall and more.

Austin City Limits, Texas, USA
Celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, Austin City Limits is a music-lover’s paradise set right in the heart of one of America’s most musical cities. This year’s whopper line-up includes The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Neil Young and Crazy Horse, the Black Keys, Jack White, Iggy and the Stooges, Crystal Castles, Die Antwoord, A-Trak and much more. There’s also an extensive mini-festival for kids, with their own musical line-up and tons of daily activities.
