 1. Go to the doctor
Check with your doctor if/what immunisations/malaria tablets you need before travelling to certain countries. Typical jabs you may need before leaving for Asia include those for: Typhoid, Meningitis A and C, Diphtheria, Hepatitis A, Polio, Rabies and Tetanus. Regarding malaria tablets, that depends on the country/countries you are visiting.
 2. What visas do I need?
Check out whether you need to apply for a visa for the country you are visiting before travelling or whether they can be issued at the airport. For instance, you need to apply for a visa for India before going there, but in the case of Thailand and Malaysia you can get one at the airport as you enter.
 3. Don’t get stuck in a country
Always have funds on you when you travel. You have to pay for visas to gain access into some countries, while you have to pay airport taxes in some countries when leaving.
 4. Always have backup
Email a copy of your passport and credit cards to yourself in case you lose them or they are stolen when you are travelling. They will be easier to replace this way.
 5. Leave the kitchen sink behind
It’s a real cliché when it comes to travelling, but remember to pack lightly! Clothes in Asia are extremely cheap, particularly goods such as shorts and t-shirts, something you will find yourself wearing a lot.
