Freehand is a collection of hotels that combine the social culture of a hostel with innovative design, award winning food and beverage, and a community driven atmosphere. Each Freehand takes its cues from the surrounding neighbourhood, with spaces that are a microcosm of the best each city has to offer. The hotel's restaurant and lobby bar is led by acclaimed restaurateur Gabriel Stulman s Happy Cooking Hospitality, known for their family of West Village restaurants including Joseph Leonard, Jeffrey's Grocery, Fedora, Perla cafe and Bar Sardine.

We are in Manhattan's Flatiron neighborhood, Freehand New York is housed in the former George Washington Hotel - which was once home to many storied writers, musicians and creatives.

We've got a variety of rooms for you to choose from designed by Roman & Williams, all of our rooms feature comfortable bedding, custom-commissioned artwork by bard college students and alumni, plus all the necessities to make you feel at home. work or play, we've got you covered.

Freehand New York offers a choice of traditional rooms or dorm style accommodations that can be booked privately. All rooms feature a private en-suite bathroom.

I thought this hotel was great! It had a ton of personality, the staff were incredible, and it's in a great location. However, some of our outlets did not work (or were too loose) and I wish we had some sort of coffee maker in the room. Room was also a bit small, but that's expected of NY.

Great location, warm and cozy and everything I needed. Only feedback is my room was right in front of big generators/fans so it was quite loud through the night - but overall fine!!
