For the party animal: Generator Kings Cross, London

You gotta love Laaaandaaaan! Head to Generator’s chill out area to unwind and socialise with other travellers while enjoying a pizza, or get warm and comfy on the cushions in the hidden yellow room. The bar is the best place to get the party started on a shoestring with a decent choice of London’s best drinks and a pool table – add in an awesome red double decker bus that doubles as a DJ booth and you have the definition of e-p-i-c!

As soon as you step into Ecomama, you’ll feel like you’ve been wrapped in a warm and cosy blanket! Relax with a cuppa in the boho chic little café before entering the HUGE chill out area, with massive leather sofas where you can listen to the oldies on the record player. Take a moment to connect with nature in the quirky garden before cooking up a storm for your new friends in the communal kitchen, where the long wooden tables can seat a hungry crowd. Hidden away in the corner you’ll find a real tepee tent decorated with fairy lights. Living. The. Dream!

Casa Gracia is full of rooms and spaces where you can get lost, each one cleverly and stylishly decorated: a bar you would never expect to find in a hostel, a fairy-tale garden patio, a library filled with the classics and a cosy social space with massive sofas!

This hang is the perfect compromise between modern design and ‘home sweet home’: enjoy a homemade breakfast in the lounge or in the scenic backyard. Or grab an espresso and skype your loved ones from the art salon to tell them how amazing Berlin and this hostel is!

Recently opened in the heart of the city, ‘Les Piaules’ is the place to be seen in Paris. The chill-out space is a mix between a classic Parisian bistro with an industrial feel. In the winter, you can get comfy by the authentic wood burner or if the weather’s nice, head to the rooftop to admire the amazing view of Paris. Don’t forget to capture the memories with your fellow travellers in the photo booth! BRB just ordering an ‘apéritif’ and a nice glass of French wine to chill ‘à la française’ – Au revoir!

Both tranquil and upbeat, this one’s a blinder!

This is definitely not your average social space: just look at that crystal clear pool and the CLIMBING WALL! After a day full of rafting, bungee jumping and safaris, you’ll be glad to head back to this peaceful traveller’s oasis with lush tropical gardens and a bar to plug into the holiday vibe.

Or alternatively, you could wait for the Russian chef to prepare a 3 course dinner of local specialities for you and your hostel buddies. Not enough? The cleaner bakes the most amazing homemade apple pie each morning – drooling already. After all that food, kick back and relax in the quirky TV lounge equipped with mac books and free Wi-Fi, or in the reading lounge, decorated with garlands and fairy lights.
