The clock on the old railway station, now the City Museum, still shows the time the earthquake struck: 5:17.\r\n\r\nThen, in the 2010s, a government project called Skopje 2014 rebuilt the centre again, this time with giant bronze statues, fountains, a triumphal arch and neoclassical facades over the concrete. The result is one of the strangest city centres in Europe, and Macedonians are sharply divided about it.\r\n\r\nAcross the Stone Bridge is the older city: the \u010car\u0161ija, one of the largest and best-preserved Ottoman bazaars in the Balkans. The Mother Teresa Memorial House marks the birthplace of the city's most famous daughter, born here in 1910.
