Iguaçu and Paraná rivers. It would be an ordinary border town if it were not for the falls a few kilometres away: around 275 separate waterfalls along almost three kilometres of the Iguaçu river, plunging into a horseshoe-shaped gorge.

The falls are shared between two national parks, both UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The Brazilian side gives you the panorama: a walkway along the gorge with views across most of the falls, ending on a platform near the Devil's Throat, the largest. The Argentine side, across the border in Puerto Iguazú, gets you up close, with trails above and below the falls.

See both.
