Deze bestaat uit vier afzonderlijke straten (Castle Hill, Lawnmarket, High Street en Canongate) en staat vol met gratis musea. U vindt er ook de grootste kathedraal van Edinburgh, <b>St Giles&#8217; Cathedral<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p>Haal een gebakken aardappel bij de toepasselijk genaamde <b>Baked Potato Shop<\/b> in Cockburn Street. Bezoek daarna twee van de beste musea van Edinburgh, het <b>Royal Museum<\/b> en het <b>Museum of Scotland<\/b>, die naast elkaar in Chambers Street liggen.<\/p>\n<p>Sluit de dag af in <b>Whistlebinkies<\/b> aan South Bridge, vlak bij de Royal Mile. Dit is altijd een favoriet bij backpackers dankzij de drankpromoties en livemuziek.<\/p>\n<h3>Dag 2 &#8211; De grootste attractie van Schotland<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hostelworld.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/Edinburgh_castle.jpg\" class=\"post links\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1344 alignright post links\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hostelworld.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/Edinburgh_castle.jpg\" alt=\"Edinburgh_castle\" width=\"175\" height=\"131\" \/><\/a>Bezoek <b>Edinburgh Castle<\/b>, de grootste toeristische attractie van Schotland. Tot de hoogtepunten behoren de <b>kroonjuwelen<\/b>, de <b>Royal Apartments en<\/b>het <b>National War Memorial of Scotland<\/b>. Trek minstens twee uur uit voor een optimaal bezoek.<\/p>\n<p>Ga vanaf het kasteel naar de <b>Grassmarket<\/b> en zoek een pub genaamd the <b>Last Drop<\/b> die speciale lunchaanbiedingen heeft voor rugzaktoeristen. Ga daarna naar <b>St Andrew Square<\/b> en neem de 15A<b>bus<\/b> naar Roslyn om te gast te zijn in <b>Roslyn Chapel<\/b>, beroemd dankzij het Dan Brown boek &#8216;The Da Vinci Code&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>Hoe toeristisch de Royal Mile ook is, veel van de pubs aan de Royal Mile serveren lekker eten, waardoor het een geweldige plek is om thee te drinken. Twee van zulke etablissementen zijn de <b>Royal Mile<\/b> en <b>The End of the World<\/b>. Ga na het eten nog een keer naar <b>Grassmarket<\/b>, waar een overvloed aan pubs te vinden is.<\/p>\n<h3>Dag 3 &#8211; Bekijk de New Town<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hostelworld.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/Edinburgh_national-galery.jpg\" class=\"post links\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1345 alignright post links\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hostelworld.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/Edinburgh_national-galery.jpg\" alt=\"Edinburgh_national galery\" width=\"165\" height=\"123\" \/><\/a>Voor het beste uitzicht over Edinburgh beklimt u <b>Arthur&#8217;s Seat<\/b>, de uitgedoofde vulkaan ten oosten van de stad. Als je niet zo van hoogtes houdt, of als je niet de meest energieke persoon ter wereld bent maar toch een uitzicht over de stad wilt, beklim dan <b>Carlton Hill<\/b> aan de oostkant van Princes Street. De klim is lang niet zo inspannend.<\/p>\n<p>Verken daarna de <b>New Town<\/b> van Edinburgh. Deze stad vol trendy winkels en chique restaurants is heel anders dan de Old Town, maar heeft nog steeds veel bezienswaardigheden. Deze omvatten de <b>Queen Street Gardens<\/b>, de <b>National Portrait Gallery<\/b>, ook in Queens Street, en de <b>National Gallery<\/b> op The Mound.<\/p>\n<p>Sluit de avond af met een van de beruchte spooktochten door Edinburgh die vertrekken vanaf de Royal Mile Street.
