This big bar is spread out over a couple of levels, with a dance floor upstairs and a number of different rooms downstairs. There\u2019s also a courtyard area with plenty of outdoor seating. It\u2019s a busy spot and attracts a rowdy crowd who come to watch all kinds of sporting events while the enjoy a drink or two (or more).<\/p>\n

Live music is really important in this basement bar which hosts over 20 live shows a week including Saturday afternoon performances by a jazz trio. Opened in 2005, it\u2019s a hugely popular jazz bar but you\u2019ll also hear plenty of other types of music here too from acoustic to hiphop.<\/p>\n

Spread out over three floors and boasting three different bar areas, it\u2019s no wonder that Frankenstein\u2019s is a busy spot. Each night you\u2019ll find something different going on here, from karaoke on Sunday nights to Tuesday\u2019s Monster Movie Night, where classic horror movies are shown in the bar at 3pm and 9pm. And you\u2019ll be happy to know that there\u2019s no cover charge to get into Frankenstein\u2019s.<\/p>\n

Best of all, there\u2019s a back room set up like a giant mattress where you can come to chill out and watch movies daily from 3pm.<\/p>\n

The Tron, a real hidden gem in the city centre, is in my opinion the best bar in Edinburgh for both students and travellers alike. Unlike some of the blander student pubs\/bars, whose owners seem to think that as long as the prices are low the people will come, it has a relaxed and unique atmosphere, due to squishy sofas coupled with subdued lighting and plush velvet curtains, contrasted with traditional bar stools and tables. A friend and I recently went to Edinburgh and liked it so much we went there for each of the 3 nights we were lucky enough to be in the fantastic city. For those who have worked up an appetite by walking the Royal Mile, you can get a drink and a burger from the bargain price of \u00a33.95. Perfect for when you need to relax with a wee dram after a long day :).<\/em><\/p>\n

Plenty of sporting events are shown at the bar, and it also serves a selection of Irish dishes which can be washed down with a pint of Guinness.<\/p>\n
