F\u00fcr die Robin-Hood-Legende ist die Stadt nat\u00fcrlich weltbekannt, aber ich kannte keine weiteren Sehensw\u00fcrdigkeiten oder Wahrzeichen. Meine englischen Freunde hatten genauso wenig Ahnung und viele haben mich sogar vor der Stadt gewarnt: 2006 wurde sie zur \u201eWaffenhauptstadt Englands\u201c gek\u00fcrt und obwohl die Kriminalit\u00e4tsrate seitdem dramatisch gesunken ist, hat sich \u201eShottinghams\u201c Ruf im Rest des Landes noch nicht ganz erholt.<\/p>\n<p>Junge Reisende auf der Suche nach einer aufregenden, bezahlbaren Alternative zu London denken zuerst einmal an Manchester oder Liverpool. Doch Nottingham hat mindestens genauso viel zu bieten und ist au\u00dferdem g\u00fcnstiger und weniger touristisch. Bei einem Wochenendausflug habe ich mich in ihre fantastischen Vintage-L\u00e4den, unpr\u00e4tenti\u00f6se Kreativszene und verbl\u00fcffende Architektur verliebt.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5318\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hostelworld.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/Hockley-Nottingham.jpg\" alt=\"Hockley Nottingham\" width=\"535\" height=\"338\" \/><\/p>\n<p>F\u00fcr einen Kurzbesuch ist das trendangebende Viertel <strong>Hockley<\/strong> ein guter Ansatzpunkt, denn hier befinden sich die meisten unabh\u00e4ngigen Caf\u00e9s, Bars und L\u00e4den. Lies weiter f\u00fcr ausf\u00fchrliche Tipps, oder schau Dir unsere <a href=\"https:\/\/www.german.hostelworld.com\/Jugendherbergen\/Nottingham\/England\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" class=\"post links\">g\u00fcnstigen Unterk\u00fcnfte in Nottingham<\/a> an.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Vintage soweit das Auge reicht\u2026 <\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5320\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hostelworld.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/Vintage-Nottingham.jpg\" alt=\"Vintage Nottingham\" width=\"535\" height=\"422\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Nach einer zweist\u00fcndigen Zugfahrt von London sind wir aus dem Bahnhof gelaufen und sofort \u00fcber <strong>Hopkinson<\/strong> (Bild oben) in der Station Road gestolpert. \u00dcber vier Stockwerke erstreckt sich dieses Vintage-Paradies, in dem man alles Denkbare zu unschlagbaren Preisen findet \u2013 von Sparschweinen bis hin zu N\u00e4hmaschinen. Gekauft habe ich einen h\u00fcbschen Sonnenhut (5\u20ac), einen eleganten Retro-Fernsehtisch (20\u20ac) und ein seltenes Dracula-Spielzeug (4\u20ac).<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5322\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hostelworld.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/Hopkinson-Manor-Nottingham.jpg\" alt=\"Hopkinson Manor Nottingham\" width=\"535\" height=\"347\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In der vierten Etage findet zurzeit eine Ausstellung namens <strong>Hopkinson Manor<\/strong> statt: eine typische englische Wohnung aus dem 20. Jahrhundert, in der man alles kaufen kann. Ich hatte das Gef\u00fchl, der Eigent\u00fcmer steigt jeden Augenblick die Treppe hoch, w\u00e4hrend ich verstohlen durch sein Hab und Gut w\u00fchle. Es hat mir irgendwie gefallen. Nach vier Stunden st\u00f6bern, habe ich im Caf\u00e9 im Grundgeschoss Hummus mit Oliven und warmem Fladenbrot f\u00fcr nur 2\u20ac gegessen \u2013 ein wahrhaftes Schn\u00e4ppchen in England.<\/p>\n<p>\u00d6ffnungszeiten: Mo-Sa 10-18, So 11-16<br \/>\nAdresse: 21 Station Street, Nottingham<\/p>\n<p>Etwas abseits des Zentrums liegt <strong>Daphnes Handbag<\/strong>, ein Partnerladen von Hopkinson. Wie alle guten Vintage-Fundgruben ist er voll bis unters Dach mit Dingen. Wenn man genauer hinschaut, findet man den einen oder anderen Schatz.<\/p>\n<p>\u00d6ffnungszeiten: Mo-Sa 10-17<br \/>\nAdresse: 67 Mansfield Road, Nottingham<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5323\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hostelworld.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/Vintage-Shops-Nottingham.jpg\" alt=\"Vintage Shops Nottingham\" width=\"535\" height=\"428\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Auch ein Partnerladen von Hopkinson, wurde <strong>Vintage Reclaimed Store<\/strong> (Bild unten rechts) erst vor ein paar Monaten in den hippen Cobden Chambers ge\u00f6ffnet. In der Regel sind die Objekte hier ungew\u00f6hnlicher und teurer als im Hopkinson, wie zum Beispiel Glasaugen oder Schrumpfk\u00f6pfe.<\/p>\n<p>\u00d6ffnungszeiten: Mo-Sa 10-18, So 11-16<br \/>\nAdresse: 1a Cobden Chambers, Pelham Street, Nottingham<\/p>\n<p>Der <strong>Thrift Store<\/strong> ist recht \u00fcberschaubar, hat aber eine feine Auswahl an Frauenklamotten. Perfekt f\u00fcr Vintage-Einsteiger.<\/p>\n<p>\u00d6ffnungszeiten: Di-Fr 12-18, Sa &amp; So 12-17<br \/>\nAdresse: 24 Heathcote Street, Nottingham<\/p>\n<p>Im <strong>Cow<\/strong> (Bild oben rechts) findest Du auf zwei Etagen Vintage-Klamotten f\u00fcr M\u00e4nner und Frauen. Die Preise sind fair und die Klamotten gepflegt.<\/p>\n<p>\u00d6ffnungszeiten: Mo-Sa 10-18, So 11-17<br \/>\nAdresse: 3 Carlton Street, Nottingham<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Eine h\u00fcbsch-h\u00e4ssliche Stadt<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5324\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hostelworld.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/Neubauten-Nottingham.jpg\" alt=\"Neubauten Nottingham\" width=\"535\" height=\"481\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Auf den ersten Blick ist Nottingham ziemlich h\u00e4sslich, aber lass Dich nicht erschrecken! Zwar gibt es sch\u00f6ne Fachwerkh\u00e4user und Backsteingeb\u00e4ude am Kanal und im historischen Lace Market, in dem fr\u00fcher Spitze produziert wurde, doch das Stadtzentrum beherrschen zweckm\u00e4\u00dfige Hochh\u00e4user und Einkaufszentren aus Beton. Wenn man sich aber einmal daran gew\u00f6hnt hat, entdeckt man ihre subtile Sch\u00f6nheit und lernt die krassen Kontraste zwischen den architektonischen Stilen zu lieben. Das beste Beispiel daf\u00fcr ist das Victoria Centre (Bild unten rechts), in dem der Uhrenturm des ehemaligen Hauptbahnhofs ganz kompromisslos in das Ende der 60er erbaute Einkaufszentrum integriert wurde.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Raum f\u00fcr Ideen<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5325\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hostelworld.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/Kunstszene-Nottingham.jpg\" alt=\"Kunstszene Nottingham\" width=\"535\" height=\"753\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Unweit der Universit\u00e4t in einer ehemaligen viktorianischen Grundschule befindet sich\u00a0<strong>Primary<\/strong> (Bild oben), ein spannender Ort f\u00fcr K\u00fcnstler, Designer und andere Kreative. Schau Dir die kommenden Veranstaltungen auf ihre Webseite an oder besuche die Galerie <strong>TG<\/strong> (Bild unten links und rechts) in der ehemaligen Wohnung des Schulhausmeisters. F\u00fcr so ein herrliches Geb\u00e4ude sind die Preise angemessen und die Atmosph\u00e4re entspannt.<\/p>\n<p>\u00d6ffnungszeiten: Mo &amp; Di 11-24, Mi &amp; Do 11-1, Fr 11-2, Sa 10-2, So 10-23<br \/>\nAdresse: The Unitarian Church, High Pavement, Nottingham<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ye Olde Trip To Jerusalem<\/strong> ist angeblich die \u00e4lteste Kneipe in England. Trink ein Pint im atmosph\u00e4rischen Sandsteinkeller und versuche, der \u201eCursed Galleon\u201c aus dem Weg zu gehen \u2013 dieses staubige Schiffsmodell ist angeblich verflucht und t\u00f6tet alle, die es anfasst.
