Venice is one of the most beautiful and romantic cities in the world, an authentic outdoor museum where you will literally find yourself surrounded by beauty and art. On the flip side, unfortunately, it can also be an expensive destination with a few tourist traps… not ideal for us travellers on a budget! So, we went on a mission to discover the very best restaurants in Venice to go to without breaking the bank.<\/p>\n

Venice has something really special when it comes to food and drinks, the so-called bacari. Bacaro means \u2018pit stop\u2019 in the Venitian dialect and it\u2019s a MUST for every local (after all it’s a concept that was born 500 years ago). Here you can find loads of delicious finger food, appetizers (that we call cicchetti) and incredible wine for low prices. Locals do what they call \u201cBacaro Tour\u201d sampling small tasty dishes, from the most amazing places to eat in Venice, going from place to place in one night only! Similar to the concept of a bar crawl, but a lot more civilised and tasty of course!<\/p>\n

Brace yourself! Are your ready for your Bacaro Tour?<\/p>\n

1. Sepa<\/b><\/h3>\n

This is a new place that opened about 6 months ago and is not to miss. You can find it in Rialto and it\u2019s in perfect traditional Venitian style. Here you can find the best Venitian food of your life: meatballs, risottos (our favourite is the one with sausage and savoy cabbage), creamed codfish and more. The staff are super nice and you will feel right at home as soon as you\u2019ll get inside. Plus, you can buy wine according to the size of the bottle (from \u20ac3 to \u20ac8 per bottle) You won\u2019t believe how cheap and amazing this place is!<\/p>\n

2. Corte dell\u2019Orso<\/b><\/h3>\n

Also in Rialto, you will find this mega cute and cosy place where you can sip a glass(es) of wine (that we call “ombra”, or beer) or a spritz (might have a German name but is a Venitian thing!) and have some of the best bruschettas you\u2019ll ever have! Our favourite is bruschetta with soppressa ham and mushrooms. DELISH!<\/p>\n

3. Bacaro Al Ravano<\/b><\/h3>\n

Next stop, another amazing wine bar. This is the perfect place to have aperitivo in a relaxed atmosphere while you munch on a mozzarella and potato cake. Bacaro Al Ravano is a small place with only a few tables, but we are on a Bacaro Tour so it doesn\u2019t really matter to sit down, right?\u00a0 Good prices and amazing staff, but remember that it’s cash only!<\/p>\n

4. Il Mercante<\/b><\/h3>\n

Just amazing! This is one of my favourite places to eat in Venice. The food here will leave you speechless! The inside is beautifully decorated and there is a short story behind every drink which you can find on the menu. This place is so good that’s it’s hard not to stay here for hours. But remember, your on a\u00a0Bacaro Tour, so on to the next tasty treat!<\/p>\n

5. Al Timon<\/b><\/h3>\n

This bar is where I go for our aperitivo after university classes or after work! You can drink your Spritz or a glass of Prosecco sitting on a boat anchored just in front of the bar and enjoy the sunset and the vibrant vibes! A glass of wine will cost you just 1\u20ac! AMAZING!<\/p>\n

6. Il Santo Bevitore<\/b><\/h3>\n

In the middle of Cannaregio, you will find this beer house that has a great selection of craft beers and gins. Some also call it the Temple of Beers. The atmosphere is really nice here and the staff will spoil you! Here you can have cicchetti for 1\u20ac!<\/p>\n

Traditional Restaurants in Venice<\/b><\/h2>\n

If you are feeling a little fancier and you want to have a special night out, relax, trat yourself and sit down for a while in a traditional Venitian osteria. Here is the list of places to eat in Venice that will make your taste-buds dance!<\/p>\n

1. Osteria Dal Riccio Peoco<\/b><\/h3>\n

Their specialty is Panino Scrocchio, stuffed with aged salami. Prices start from \u20ac2.50 for chichetti and \u20ac1 for a glass of wine. Oh and every Friday there is live music!<\/p>\n

2. Osteria Alla Frasca<\/b><\/h3>\n

This place is a real gem and unlike the tourist traps, this place is going to feed you real good! The owner Bruno will also take the time to explain you the history of the restaurant (which we won\u2019t give away now, sorry!). We recommend rigatoni with scampi and radicchio tardivo (red chicory), creamed cod, sole with lemon and fish fry up. Mmm!<\/p>\n

3. Osteria Da Carla<\/b><\/h3>\n

If you come here, you have to try the gnocchi with rocket pesto, burrata and fresh shrimps. As soon as you enter this place you will be wrapped in a warm atmosphere. We have to say, the food is beyond delicious. The prices can be a little pricier than other places mentioned.<\/p>\n

4. Osteria Ai Nevodi<\/b><\/h3>\n

Imagine the classic authentic Italian restaurant. Facing the \u201ccalle\u201d(typical Venitian streets) with tables outside, charming atmosphere\u2026 You know? You will find all of this here at AI Nevodi. Here we recommend the fresh seafood which is very well priced. The place is adorable, red bricks, wood tables and chairs inside with soft, relaxing lights. Typical Venitian food right here!<\/p>\n
