MAMA TUNGU is a new proposal for travelers looking to enjoy nature and adventure in Banos Ecuador. We are located in the tourist area of Baños, Ruta de las Cascadas, from the hostel you can see three WATERFALLS!!!!

EL BAR and EL RESTO of Mama Tungu will make you enjoy delicious breakfasts, cocktails and dishes at good prices.

We will make sure that you live a beautiful experience in Banos. Remember the tour of waterfalls in the hostel. Promotions in Canyoning, rafting, Paragliding and others.

MAMA TUNGU has an ideal pool for swimming and a hot tub in the common area, I assure you that this will be your favorite place! Surrounded by mountains, greenery and fresh air, we offer you areas to relax and enjoy beautiful views such as Gint Hammock, Tree House.

Customer service was bad from the start. We arrived around 1-2 AM and I appreciated her waiting after our long ride from Cuenca the interaction immediately made me want to leave. But we were so far from everything, we had no choice but to wait until morning. We slept a little got up at 7am and left by 9am. The place is beautiful, but no signal, terrible wifi, no outside food allowed, and no kitchen, which made it even less welcoming. Got a refund and went to Great Hostel Backpackers.

The staff and property were lovely. The hostel rooms were super clean. Lots of space around hostel but it is out of town and does require a 10 minute taxi to centre. The hostel is happy to organise taxis for cheap enough and food was good. You can organise all hikes/white-water rafting etc through the hostel with pick up so that was helpful. Not as much atmosphere as hostels in town but a good place to relax - loved the fire at night

The hostel itself is super nice and almost like a hostel - great facilities, very clean etc. I booked the rafting activity through the hostel and was charged $30 but found out that everyone else on the same tour only paid $20, so don’t book tours through the hostel! I understand hostels want a bit of a mark up but 50% really is taking advantage of people. Paid $2 for refillable tea but there was never hot water available (15 minute wait). Hostel was very empty so not much atmosphere.
