The hostel was in a nice area but lacked atmosphere, there were promises of a karaoke night but that was non existent and the cleaner would come in at 8/9am each day when everyone was still asleep to start cleaning, they even opened my curtain while I was still in there. That said, for the price we paid it was overall pretty chill and pretty clean.

Not sure what’s justifying “Boutique” in the hostels name. Not a lot of space in the dorms and the facilities (both bathroom and kitchen) are quite disgusting. English is also very limited. At least the WiFi is stable and the location is good.

Vila Madalena is a great location and there were many restaurants, cafes and bars to explore. However, the hostel itself seems to be half-built and the facilities were not great. One shower was way too hot and the other too cold. To get to the female bathroom you had to basically go through the whole hostel including outside. Also do not come if you want to get any sleep, staff will welcome people into the room at 1am talking at full volume and turning all lights on. It was an ok stay.
