GM Tirana Hostel

Noisy rooms because the main wall did not reach the ceiling .. noise particularly from the hostel staff. Only one air conditioning unit serving all rooms - hence the big gap in the wall .. Otherwise okay. Quite a walk from the centre.

The Pros: good location about a 15 minutes walk from the city center. Very clean, like could eat of the floor clean and I include the bathrooms with that. More than sufficient toilets and showers, with a very good set up for shared doromitory style bathroom with excellent locks on all shower/toilet doors. The Cons: Walls on rooms don't go to the cieling, there is a 30 cm gap and if sitting on the top bunk in your room, you can see into the others, this also means that there is little actual privacy even when in a 'private room'. The night manager also insists on quiet hours beyond the stanard 22.00 to 08.00 found in most hostels and guests houses and as stated in the guest rules and instead wants quiet from 20.00 until 10.00 each day. Safety: the night manager did not know and instead slammed my bedroom door open when my toddler made noise in the middle of the night. I felt very unsafe. He also accosted us in the bathroom about an hour later and demanded we leave in the morning. If it hadn't been the middle of the night, I would have left immediately as he made me feel so unsafe.

GM Tirana may not be for everyone but I love it. The hosts are very attentive. The cleanliness finally meets my standards. It’s also on the ground floor, this hauling luggage upstairs is unnecessary. There is also a secluded patio away from the hustle and bustle of the street. Also, no waiting line for shower or bathroom stalls. There are plenty.
