The River North area is an entertainment hub, full of incredible restaurants and swanky bars. It also borders the ‘Magnificent Mile’, Chicago’s most famous shopping district where you’ll find some of the city’s most iconic architectural landmarks. The Wicker Park neighbourhood is where Chicago’s cool kids hang out thanks to an influx of coffee shops, brunch spots, record stores and vintage boutiques. The community spirit in Albany Park, Chicago’s most multicultural neighbourhood, is second to none – as is the range of incredible cuisines on offer in this foodie hotspot!
Chicago is a dreamy destination for culture buffs, with an unbeatable roster of events and things to do. In summer, grab a picnic and head to Millennium Park, where you might be lucky enough to catch an impromptu free concert. The jazz clubs of Uptown are a must for music lovers, and there are plenty of free comedy clubs where you’re guaranteed a laugh. The Art Institute of Chicago is often voted the top attraction in the city, and with such an incredible schedule of exhibitions every month it isn’t hard to see why.
Chicago is home to the USA’s second largest public transport system, so getting around is a breeze. The L Train serves 144 stations, and for anywhere it doesn’t cover there are over 100 bus routes operating in the city. If you’ll be exploring the city lots, the best value option is to grab a 24-hour unlimited transit ticket for $10. Chicago O’Hare, the city’s main airport, is located 15 miles from Downtown. A train runs regularly 24 hours a day from O’Hare Blue Line Station to the city centre, taking around 45 minutes and costing $5.
