About Cornwall

Real talk... if you’re looking for a great place to munch on some good old English fish and chips by the harbour while watching the sunset, then look no further, Cornwall has made it onto your list. This ancient Celtic kingdom is surrounded by and famed for its stunning rugged coastline, beaches and scenery.

In terms of your accommodation expect a mixture of modern, country and cheap hostels in Cornwall. If you’re into surfing or want to give it a go, perhaps a stay at the newly refurbished Cohort Hostel in St Ives will tickle your fancy. You have the option of 4 diverse hostels in Cornwall, where we’re sure you’ll find accommodation to suit both your own and your pals needs.

Since Cornwall is a surfing hotspot in the UK if you’re after catching a wave or ten, staying somewhere by the coast would be a smart move (captain obvious over here). As mentioned before the Cohort hostel in St Ives is located in a prime position for a beach getaway and is within minutes from over 50 bars, cafes and restaurants. If you’re looking for a Cornwall hostel that is more lowkey, plus a mixture of beach and countryside, then the Lower Penderleath St Ives Farm Hostel could be the one for you!

The obvious suggestion here, that is, if you don’t mind getting cold in some good old English waters, is surfing. Since Cornwall is known to be a hotspot when it comes to surfing in the UK, we reckon its kind of a must try adventure when you’re in town… especially since Cornwall has made it on our list for the best beaches in Europe. The Eden Project houses the world’s largest rainforest in captivity and should definitely be on your list of things to do, I mean, there’s even a waterfall inside one of the massive Biomes. For adventure activities perhaps flying through the sky on a roller coaster at Flambards or Zip lining 50m above a flooded quarry at Adrenalin Quarry are more up your alley. For more cultural and historical experiences why not take a trip to Lands End, Trebah Gardens or watch a performance at the Minack Theatre.

While hiring a car sometimes isn’t always the most convenient thing to do whilst staying in a hostel, it could be handy to gather up some other fellow hostel mates and hire a car for the day to allow you to freely explore the wonderful coastal and country-side scenery at your free will. An eco-friendlier and more efficient (especially during peak summer traffic) way to explore the town is via bike and there are numerous places where you can hire a reasonably priced bike. Alternatively, you can hop on a train or bus that run throughout Cornwall and its outer suburbs.
