About Houston

Houston is a large city in southeast Texas, spanning all the way to Galveston Bay along the Gulf of Mexico. As the most populous city in Texas (fourth in the USA), you can expect there to be plenty to do and see year-round. Houston is largely associated with old west heritage, NASA, eclectic museums, and large shopping centres.

Hostels in Houston offer accommodation in a variety of locations and are often in heritage homes, reflecting Houston’s historic roots. Look for free breakfast and the option of dorms and private rooms, and a range of affordable accommodation no matter what your budget. Houston hostels are the perfect way to have an authentic Texan experience.

Staying near central Houston will give you easy access to a large variety of restaurants, shopping, and entertainment. Just north of downtown, along Buffalo Bayou, is the theatre district where you can catch a show or hangout in the beautiful surrounding parks. Houston hostels further west are closer to the main shopping centres.

One of the most unique attractions in Houston is the Houston Space Center, where you can learn all about space exploration and technology and even take a tour of the NASA Johnson Space Center. There are plenty of options to experience the arts in both theatres and galleries. If you’re looking to do some shopping be sure to stop at The Galleria which is among the top 10 largest malls in the US. With all this running around, you need to stop off at one of Houston’s renowned Tex-Mex restaurants, you won’t regret it!

Houston’s METRORail network offers great access and egress to central Houston from the North, South, and East. METRO also offers a huge network of affordable bus routes that extend throughout the entire city, including the airports. Taxis are available throughout the city and have a flat rate of $6 anywhere in downtown; or, you can use a ride-sharing service to get around. If you’re in Houston to party, The Wave is a shuttle that takes people around to the city’s best nightlife areas. It can also be used for culinary, art, and brewery tours!
