Property Description

A comfortable host Tucked away in Yaowarat Chinatown, AMA hostel was once served as a mansion of wealthy Chinese migrants, surrounded by waterways and bridges that were the heart of Bangkok’s transportation. Perched three floors high up, this 1,000-square-meter house is comprised of two compartments: the main and minor buildings. While the larger hall was formerly resided by the owner’s big family, another smaller site was operated as the servants’ quarter. Since the era of King Rama V, the stately property has been passed through generations. However, its historical aesthetics still shine in every inch of its exquisite architecture.

We the mastermind behind the whole concept, decided to transform this elegant antique house into an urban-chic hostel. With 14guest rooms, the sophisticated space is tastefully renovated with a modernized look that continues to honor the past with elements from its colonial legacy. He aims to retain the original features of the significant structures, and the homey vibes of the house by giving only a few interiors a modern makeover, so guests get to immerse in its vibrant culture and valuable heritage. Embracing the traditional touches and contemporary designs, AMA hostel preserves rich, remarkable details, from Chinese quadrangles and intricate guard rails to antique parquet floorings and decent wooden windows. Colorful hues are what bring the old artistic surrounds to life. Stylish and sleek, each floor is decorated with subtly different shades, inspired by the moods and tones of the four seasons. On the first floor, the lobby area reflects Spring and Winter in fresh green and eggshell white, offering a warm and welcoming ambiance once the guests enter the door. There’s also a little corner for those who’d like to enjoy a cup of coffee in the relaxing café. The second floor draws upon the sense of Summer, featuring romantic red that elevates the space with sensual hints. Another amenity includes the massage room that is also set on the same floor.

The top floor is where the Rainy season takes over. Against the cozy blue wall, the guests will find a shallow pool terrace for sunbathing and cool rooftop bar with ice-cold drinks. On top of that, the interiors are draped with plush fabrics, which are reminiscent of Nakun family business, adding the finishing touch to this one-of-a-kind hostel. With a name synonymous with grandmother in Chinese dialect, AMA will always draw guests close to home. The symbolic logo also resembles the strength of the signature railing that withstands the harsh passing of time and still stands firm all these years – like a kind, endearing grandmother who always take care of us with her warmth and grace.el in Khaosan Road area with great facilities.

For more than a century Featuring free WiFi and a shared lounge, Ama Hostel Bangkok is set in Bangkok, 700 m from Sampeng Market. Popular points of interest nearby include Wat Pho, Temple of the Golden Mount and Temple of the Emerald Buddha. Located in the Bangkok Old Town district, the hostel is within 1.4 km of Grand Palace. Great hostel, felt more like a hotel. The staff are very friendly and it is exceptionally clean. The hostel is situated across the canal directly across from sempeng market. There isn't really a night scene so it's definitely not a party hostel but it is definitely a great place to chill.

This is one of the nicest hostels I’ve stayed in. The architecture & design is incredible - feels more like a 4* hotel. Nice swimming pool, bathrooms, super clean rooms and you add the buffet breakfast on top the value for money is outstanding. My only con would be Chinatown wasn’t my fav area of Bangkok, but still the cost was so worth it.

This hostel is more like a hotel. The rooms are spotless and very individualised. Perfect for night before airport or same day as. Not the best location but Grab App was super cheap to use and could get you everywhere. Would definitely recommend to those that like their own space. I had good room guests but it could be isolating if you get unlikely with who is in your room.

    Fabulous

Very good hostel. In an interesting area (next to Little India and Chinatown), fairly close to the subway. No objections as far as cleanliness goes. Breakfast was basic (no vegan options though). Showers were ok. Stuff was very friendly and accommodating. For instance, we were allowed to take a shower few hours after we checked out, for no extra fee. We stayed here in a private room with small kids and they liked it too (in particular, the pool). Staff was very friendly towards kids as well.

Very neat hostel. Only complaints are that it’s super hard to find. No taxi’s or tuk tuks knew how to get there. It would be fine if you have internet but had no wifi to access where the hostel was. Breakfast was awesome, beds super comfy. Pool is ankle deep with chairs. Would stay again if I knew how to get there.

    Fabulous

We had trouble trying to locate the hostel at first as it is tucked inside Bangkok's Chinatown. Accessibility wise, it is near MRT Sam Yot station which became our main point of touring around the city. The air conditioner is strong and great, most especially after days of being out of the Bangkok sun. We filled ourselves with the free breakfast which consisted of eggs, sausages, toast, and cereal. The comfort rooms were well-maintained. Reception desk is 24 hours open. Five out of five. :-)

Lovely decorated hostel. No real social atmosphere. Amazing free breakfast and comfortable dorm rooms, bathrooms above staff room which sometimes has a bad smell coming from it. Location in an alleyway but I walked through there alone at night and was ok.
