Property Description

The Abbey Court, part of 'Dublin's Best Hostels', is famous for its excellent location, brilliant facilities, warm atmosphere, friendly staff and competitive prices. The hostel has been operating successfully since its establishment in 1999, and continues to see thousands of satisfied guests coming and going year after year.

With en-suite dormitories ranging from four to twenty-four beds, the Abbey Court is known for its excellent group catering facilities. Rates include bed linen, as well as free towels for guests staying in single and twin rooms. Despite our central location, guests are still assured of a comfortable and peaceful night's sleep, allowing for a full and busy day ahead.

Check out our list of free stuff for all guests: all-you-can-eat breakfast, luggage storage on arrival, laptop and passport storage, lockers in the dorm rooms (bring your own lock!), Wi-Fi and Internet, maps and city guides, a self-catering kitchen, and best of all, free guided walking tour of the city every morning. We also run an infamous nightly pub crawl.

We've got hot water, power showers and extra showers and toilets on each floor, plus laundry facilities and a smoking area. We have 24 hour reception so there's no lockout or curfew. There's also 24 hour snacks and drinks and our lounge, games room and TV room are open all the time.

Located just off Dublin's famous O'Connell Bridge, we are the most centrally located hostel in the city. Temple Bar, Ireland's famous cultural corner and nightlife spot is a two-minute walk away and can be seen from the front windows. We're just minutes from all the major places of interest and shopping areas including Dublin Castle, Christchurch Cathedral, Trinity College, the Guinness Storehouse, Grafton Street and Stephens Green. Also within walking distance are the tram stop, the DART station and many bus routes that will take you to more scenic areas outside of Dublin including Howth, Dun Laoghaire, Bray and Dalkey, plus the main sporting and concert arenas.

Our fun and friendly staff are on hand 24 hours to give advice and recommendations on the best restaurants, pubs, shopping areas and tourist attractions, and also to point you in the right direction of all the hidden gems you wouldn't discover otherwise.

We at the Abbey Court are 100% committed to ensuring your stay is as comfortable and fun as possible, and will do everything we can to make this happen. Stay with us and let us help you enjoy everything this colorful and vibrant city has to offer. View House Rules

Overview

Here at Abbey Court, we're a friendly bunch. We've got lovely staff, free-all-you-can-eat breakfasts and we're centrally located with culture on our doorstep. It's easy to check in and tick the must-see sites off your list with our daily free guided walking tour. Travelling solo? Tag onto the nightly pub crawl for socialising (and a shot or two). For downtime, head to the games room and TV room – open 24 hours.

Location

We're super easy to find: the airport bus drops you seconds from our door at O’Connell Street. Pint o'clock? Just head across the road to the pubs of Temple Bar, or hop on a bus to the Guinness Storehouse – 20 minutes away – and pull your own pint on the tour. Indulge your inner photographer with an arty picture of our colourful building, and a shot of the iconic Ha' Penny Bridge, just a three-minute stroll away. Dublin done? The main train station is over the river to take you to bays like Howth and Bray.

Rooms and Dorms

Free bedding and power showers in the en-suites are just a couple of perks you’ll find in our mixed and female-only dorms. Keep your belongings secure in the under-bed lockers, which are big enough for a standard backpack (just remember to bring a padlock). Travelling as a twosome? Check into a double or twin room and get your own bathroom – we'll provide the towels so you can pack light!

Extras and activities

Our 24-hour reception means there’s no curfew – so you can stay at Copper Face Jacks club till the lights come on. Handy extras include an ATM at our front door, free Wi-Fi (so you can Facetime from your bunk) and free tour maps. On a budget? Chill in our games room with a game of darts or foosball. Our kitchen has loads of cooking stations so make a bowl of pasta and save those euros for the pub crawl.

Hostel was great but we didn’t have any plug sockets by our beds which was a pain. The top bunks don’t have barriers, and the lockers don’t have locks on so you need to bring your own. It’s a BYOB bar which worked perfectly for us. The best thing about the hostel was probably the location, couldn’t have been better. Really enjoyed our stay, had a great time in Dublin - would definitely return to this hostel.

Pros: Amazing location Friendly staff Comfortable beds Plenty of toilets FREE BREAKFAST Overall cool vibe Lots of security protocols (need to use a key card to get anywhere) Cons: The room was stuffy, but that's standard for hostels in my opinion The room I was in got a bit of outside noise on some nights You have to pay for towels, always a pet peeve of mine Overall good experience. One of the least expensive hostels I could find & for the location, bed & free food, I would 100% book again

The hostel has a great location but is set up odd with many of the dorms not attached to the main space. The dorm I stayed in was a four bed mix and was extremely small with very outdated bathroom. Glad I didn’t stay to long here.

Tiny room & bathroom with paper thin walls. Some staff were nice but others were kinda rude. Breakfast was decent & location is very good.

Location is the only thing I found worth it at this hostel. Breakfast has a tiny window even for hostels that allow you to use their kitchen facilities. Did not feel like my property was safe here nor I feel I had much privacy (female showers with no lock and curtains?) Staff was as largely apathetic or outright rude although shout-out to their friendly guy during evening/morning. Price was too high for such a meh hostel.
