The hostel has been operating successfully since its establishment in 1999, and continues to see thousands of satisfied guests coming and going year after year.

With en-suite dormitories ranging from four to twenty-four beds, the Abbey Court is known for its excellent group catering facilities. Check out our list of free stuff for all guests: all-you-can-eat breakfast, luggage storage on arrival, laptop and passport storage, lockers in the dorm rooms (bring your own lock!), Wi-Fi and Internet, maps and city guides, a self-catering kitchen, and best of all, free guided walking tour of the city every morning. We also run an infamous nightly pub crawl.

We've got hot water, power showers and extra showers and toilets on each floor, plus laundry facilities and a smoking area. We have 24 hour reception so there's no lockout or curfew. There's also 24 hour snacks and drinks and our lounge, games room and TV room are open all the time.

Located just off Dublin's famous O'Connell Bridge, we are the most centrally located hostel in the city. We're just minutes from all the major places of interest and shopping areas including Dublin Castle, Christchurch Cathedral, Trinity College, the Guinness Storehouse, Grafton Street and Stephens Green. Also within walking distance are the tram stop, the DART station and many bus routes that will take you to more scenic areas outside of Dublin including Howth, Dun Laoghaire, Bray and Dalkey, plus the main sporting and concert arenas.

Here at Abbey Court, we're a friendly bunch. We've got lovely staff, free-all-you-can-eat breakfasts and we're centrally located with culture on our doorstep. It's easy to check in and tick the must-see sites off your list with our daily free guided walking tour. Travelling solo? Tag onto the nightly pub crawl for socialising (and a shot or two). For downtime, head to the games room and TV room – open 24 hours.

Location

We're super easy to find: the airport bus drops you seconds from our door at O’Connell Street. Pint o'clock? Just head across the road to the pubs of Temple Bar, or hop on a bus to the Guinness Storehouse – 20 minutes away – and pull your own pint on the tour. Indulge your inner photographer with an arty picture of our colourful building, and a shot of the iconic Ha' Penny Bridge, just a three-minute stroll away. Dublin done? The main train station is over the river to take you to bays like Howth and Bray.

Rooms and Dorms

Free bedding and power showers in the en-suites are just a couple of perks you’ll find in our mixed and female-only dorms. Keep your belongings secure in the under-bed lockers, which are big enough for a standard backpack (just remember to bring a padlock). Travelling as a twosome? Check into a double or twin room and get your own bathroom – we'll provide the towels so you can pack light!

Extras and activities

Our 24-hour reception means there’s no curfew – so you can stay at Copper Face Jacks club till the lights come on. Handy extras include an ATM at our front door, free Wi-Fi (so you can Facetime from your bunk) and free tour maps. On a budget? Chill in our games room with a game of darts or foosball. Our kitchen has loads of cooking stations so make a bowl of pasta and save those euros for the pub crawl.

My friends and I fell in love with this hostel right when we got dropped off. Such an amazing location, with very friendly staff. We stayed in the 12 mixed dorm, which was spacious and very clean. They have multiple rooms (cinema, hammock, etc.) to hangout in, which is so nice after a day of exploring. They even have a bar area to pre game before going out for the night. Can’t wait to go back, would 100% recommend.

Stayed here for one night -solo traveller. Reception staff friendly and helpful, advised me to go on the pub crawl that they were selling tickets for, went on it and was good value for money and a great night. Hostel is very central, close to shopping street, transport links and near temple bar area/ ha penny bridge. Hostel clean, rooms basic but comfortable. Nice communal areas with games room, kitchen, hammock room etc. Had an ensuite which was clean, shared shower areas clean too.

Stayed at Abbey Court for a few nights on my visit to Dublin. I stayed in a 4 person multi-sex room. The room was okay, bed comfy enough and warm enough. The bathroom was tiny but functional. Little privacy with the bed situation but that didn’t bother me. There are crates that you can lock your stuff away in under the beds. The hostel offered free continental breakfast and it was absolutely fine. The other facilities offered were nice too. The biggest sell is location, which is amazing!!

We had a great time overall. The location is right on the river and there are lots of pubs and restaurants nearby. Only issue we had was the noise both from the street and the folks on our floor. Definitely geared towards a younger, party-going type. Otherwise, it was clean, the staff were friendly, and the place was secure.

Eva, Ava, Iva, Heyva, whatever, is so creepy to me. I've never, in my traveling life, experienced a worker following me around, making me feel so unwelcomed. It made my experience horrible.

A bit of a confusing place. Good location right on the Liffey and near Grafton street, but difficult to meet other people staying there. The pub crawl was a good time, but otherwise didn't meet many people at all. Probably a better place if you're traveling with people than if you're on your own!

This hostel is in the perfect location for going out and being close to tourist attractions. The location could not get any better. It is a bit expensive given the quality of some of the facilities. The bathrooms are a bit small and old. But don't let that stop you from staying here! LOVED the hammock room. It was super relaxing. Folks at the front desk did their best to be helpful.

Most of the staff are irritating and unfriendly. Reception area separate from the hostel itself so no interaction. The place is dead, no piped music in the common areas. Easy to get lost in the warren. Only fun is when you take your own friends with you, no new friends can enter, no really hostel atmosphere, ideal for bland millennials. Has a security guard patrolling !!! Achtung !! Pretend bar !! No alcohol, duh !! Repeat :- DEAD !! Staff: Couldn't care less !!
