The hostel has been operating successfully since its establishment in 1999, and continues to see thousands of satisfied guests coming and going year after year.

With en-suite dormitories ranging from four to twenty-four beds, the Abbey Court is known for its excellent group catering facilities. Rates include bed linen, as well as free towels for guests staying in single and twin rooms. Despite our central location, guests are still assured of a comfortable and peaceful night's sleep, allowing for a full and busy day ahead.

Check out our list of free stuff for all guests: all-you-can-eat breakfast, luggage storage on arrival, laptop and passport storage, lockers in the dorm rooms (bring your own lock!), Wi-Fi and Internet, maps and city guides, a self-catering kitchen, and best of all, free guided walking tour of the city every morning. We also run an infamous nightly pub crawl.

We've got hot water, power showers and extra showers and toilets on each floor, plus laundry facilities and a smoking area. We have 24 hour reception so there's no lockout or curfew. There's also 24 hour snacks and drinks and our lounge, games room and TV room are open all the time.

Located just off Dublin's famous O'Connell Bridge, we are the most centrally located hostel in the city. Temple Bar, Ireland's famous cultural corner and nightlife spot is a two-minute walk away and can be seen from the front windows. We're just minutes from all the major places of interest and shopping areas including Dublin Castle, Christchurch Cathedral, Trinity College, the Guinness Storehouse, Grafton Street and Stephens Green. Also within walking distance are the tram stop, the DART station and many bus routes that will take you to more scenic areas outside of Dublin including Howth, Dun Laoghaire, Bray and Dalkey, plus the main sporting and concert arenas.

Our fun and friendly staff are on hand 24 hours to give advice and recommendations on the best restaurants, pubs, shopping areas and tourist attractions, and also to point you in the right direction of all the hidden gems you wouldn't discover otherwise.

Overview

Here at Abbey Court, we're a friendly bunch. We've got lovely staff, free-all-you-can-eat breakfasts and we're centrally located with culture on our doorstep. It's easy to check in and tick the must-see sites off your list with our daily free guided walking tour. Travelling solo? Tag onto the nightly pub crawl for socialising (and a shot or two). For downtime, head to the games room and TV room – open 24 hours.

Location

We're super easy to find: the airport bus drops you seconds from our door at O’Connell Street. Pint o'clock? Just head across the road to the pubs of Temple Bar, or hop on a bus to the Guinness Storehouse – 20 minutes away – and pull your own pint on the tour. Indulge your inner photographer with an arty picture of our colourful building, and a shot of the iconic Ha' Penny Bridge, just a three-minute stroll away. Dublin done? The main train station is over the river to take you to bays like Howth and Bray.

Rooms and Dorms

Free bedding and power showers in the en-suites are just a couple of perks you’ll find in our mixed and female-only dorms. Keep your belongings secure in the under-bed lockers, which are big enough for a standard backpack (just remember to bring a padlock). Travelling as a twosome? Check into a double or twin room and get your own bathroom – we'll provide the towels so you can pack light!

Extras and activities

Our 24-hour reception means there’s no curfew – so you can stay at Copper Face Jacks club till the lights come on. Handy extras include an ATM at our front door, free Wi-Fi (so you can Facetime from your bunk) and free tour maps. On a budget? Chill in our games room with a game of darts or foosball. Our kitchen has loads of cooking stations so make a bowl of pasta and save those euros for the pub crawl.

The hostel was amazing! I’m extremely happy that I chose it, Anyone going to Dublin should definitely stay here, the rooms are cleaned and well kept, even with the COVID situation the rooms are well taken care of. The rooms are also not as packed because they only have the rooms half filled for social distancing. The staff member at the front desk is amazing, you can ask her anything and she is willing to help you out without hesitation. She helped to make our stay even more exciting 🙂

Great facilities and well run. A credit to everyone working there, the desk staff, cleaners, security and night shift. Highly recommended this friendly place to stay in the centre of Dublin.

Loved my time at Abbey Court! The receptionist was very friendly and helpful. I was happy to see the COVID safe measures taken by them by limiting the beds in a room. Definitely would visit again.

The hostel shared facilities were great, and the staff were friendly. The kitchen was spotless and everything felt clean and covid-friendly. The location was amazing - really central next to lots of bars and tourist attractions. Our shower was cold and the bed was uncomfortable - this could be improved for next time!

    Very Good

The hostel is in a nice location and the staff were friendly and helpful. However, the atmosphere in the hostel was not great and I don't think it would be a good place to meet other people if you were a solo traveller. The showers were also not very clean and they have some extra charges which were expensive such as 3 euro to rent a towel and they also charge you to leave your luggage in the storage room which is free in most hostels.

To location of Abbey Court is amazing, however I would not stay there again. They charge an insane fee to store luggage before or after your stay, £6 for a suitcase and £3 for a small bag. No hostel I’ve stayed at has charged something like this. The fire alarm went off one night at about 9pm and the poor staff didn’t know how to fix it. I stayed for 3 nights and our bathroom wasn’t cleaned at all during my stay, even though I was told we had to be out of our rooms each day for cleaning.

DO NOT stay in this hostel. You can't use the kitchen and tv after 22hs or ps4 after 19hs, don't make sense as the facilities are far from the rooms. A fire alarm went off at 4am on our first night (just a false alarm). And when we tried to left our luggage after checkout they said that facility was closed and tried to charge us €12 both. No breakfast included and there is nowhere to find this information before arriving. One member of the staff was really rude when we expressed our concerns.
