I had overall a really good experience. The staff was really friendly and the place was clean. Location is good too but there’s this dodgy street right next to it. You can avoid that street and get to the hostel from the other side so it was okay.

The room was very cosy and each bed had a cubby and power outlet and lamp. No bunk beds, just regular beds, which is a plus. The room had glorious AC. The room was also very quiet, away from noise and busy streets. Location wise, proximity to attractions was quite close, but the neighbourhood wasn’t so nice. However the hostel was very clean and I definitely recommend it.

The Abbey is a well run hostel that has a central location near the Metro. Finding the hostel at first can be a challenge, but the location is right on the harbor and near a food market. They have a well stocked kitchen, and also serve breakfast. Frankly, at 3.50 Euro the breakfast doesnt look like much, and for 3.50 euro you can have breakfast for three days of kitchen cooking. The staff is responsive, knowledgeable and willing to go out of their way to help. Good value for the price.

The hostel itself is fine. Good facilities, very friendly and helpful staff and lots going on. You need to be careful getting in and out of the hostel though as the alleyway to the west of the hostel (to the right as you leave the front door) is pretty rough and not the sort of place you'd stop and ask a friendly local for directions. I'd use this hostel again now that I know where I'm going but just be aware that you're probably only one wrong turn from potential trouble here.
